BRUNLEY, STATE REPRESENTATIVES FROM, PICCRAC?CEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY, FOR THE SPLENDID 'WORK DONE BY THEM OPPOSING THE PASSAGE OF THE AL ENDUENT TO THE T. V. A. ACT DURING THE 1926 SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEIMLY, AND ALSO FOR INTRODUCING AND CAUSING TO BE PASSED AT SAID SESSION CERTAIN LEGISLATION 'WHICH 'WILL EE ESPECIALLY tENEFICIAL TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH WHEREAS, there was passed in the senate durinC the 19TH session of the Oeneral assembly an amendment to the T.V.A Act which would deprive all cities of the commonwealth of (1) the right to construct and operate any electric facilities duplicatin,, those of the existing privately owned plant, (2) the right to ever own and operate a municipal electric and power system unless able to amicably a -roe vith the o.,ner upon a price or to acquire its properties by c-ndemnation, and (3) the ri,•ht any city may now have under a franchise, contract or option to purchase a. privately owned system; and, it Was largely throu,,h the efforts of Senator :',-pry `ard and Representatives _red n. 8.organ and Charles '.:. _urnley that thea £oresaid amendment ::gas defeated in the House of Representatives; and, `.'HEREAS, throu-h the efforts of ;senator '.:ard and ?,ep- resentatives I.;organ and Eurnley there was passed at the 1946 session of the leZislature (1) an act authorizinZ cities to acquirt and operate artificial gas systems by the issuance of revenue bonds therefor, (2) an act authorizing cities to acquire and operate marbage disposal systems, (3) an act providing that surplus rentals derived from the operation of a municipal housin"- project may be paid to the city In lieu of taxes, (4) an act authorizing the city assessor or her deputies to call at the residence, usual place of abode or buainegs place of all taxpayo_700 who have not listed t:-:eir pvoperty for taxes prior to September 1st and obtain assessments -lists from them, (5) an act providing that poil taxes shall become C::ue and be collected in the same manner as ad valorem taxes, and (6) an act authorizinZ the payment from the general fund of all neces ary and reasonably medical and hospital expenses incurred by any city employee who becomes totally or 'nartially disabled as a result of an injury received by him'or her while en a,, ed in thO performance of duty; and, '"'REAS, the passage of all of the aforesaid Acts were recommended by the zoard of Commissioners and it is believed that they :rill be of' special benefit to the Gity of _aducah; 1'fl2 ?;0', .110;EFORE, LE iT RE OLVED Lf THE LOARD Or• CC:;:.1_ _C:::.ii,. Section 2. That the :'ayor and members of the Board of Commissioners, by a;)d through the oassaZe of this esolut- tion, express their thanks and appreciation fdr•the diligence and effects of Senator ;;card and Representatives Lorgan and L-urnley whir made possible the defeat of the aforesaid amendment to the T.V.A. Act at the 1946 session of the legislature, and also for the cooperation •-iven the City of i'aducah by introducinL and causinC. to be passed at said session all of the aforesaid bills which were recommended to them. Section 3. That senator 7,ard and Representatives ,,:organ and Burnley; and each of them, be furnished with a certified copy of this resolution. Section 4.
