AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED
"AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND REGULATING THE LICENSE TAXES, AND MANNER
AND FORM OF GRANTING AND ISSUING SAME ON THE VARIOUS LINES OF
BUSINESS, OCCUPATIONS, PROFESSIONS, TRADES AND CALLINGS IN THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT
THEREOF AND FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO ENGAGE
IN ANY SUCH LINES OF BUSINESS, OCCUPATIONS, PROFESSIONS, TRADES END
CALLINGS WITHOUT F 73ST PAYING THE LICENSE TAX AND PROCURING
LICENSES AS PROVIDED HEREIN" WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF
COMLMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH ON DECEMBER 24TH, 1934, BY
ADDING THERETO A SECTION TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 8b, AND REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.
WHEREAS there are located within the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, numerous cleaning and dying plants and establis
ments and laundries which are subject.to local regulation, control
and inspection and which are now operated under, and have hereto -o
been operated under regulations prescribed by said city;
AND 141HEREAS numerous parties are also engaged
in collecting and procuring articles of clothing and household use
to be sent to points and places outside of the City of Paducah to
establishments and plants not under the control or subject to
inspection and supervision by the City of Paducah, and the opera
of which interfere with the proper control for the purpose of
inspection, sanitation and enforcement of health measures within
the City of Paducah; and in order to promote conditions that may be
conducive to the protection of the public health and the ?ublic
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY.
SECTION 1.
That an ordinance entitled "An ordinance fixing
and regulating the license taxes, and manner and form of granting
and issuing same on the various lines of business, occupations,
professions, trades and callings in the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
and _)roviding penalties for non-payment thereof and for violation
thereof, and making it unlawful to engage in any such lanes of
business, occupations, professions, trades and callings without
first paying the license tax and procuring licenses as provided
hereinll which was adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City
of Paducah, Kentucky on the 24th day of December, 1934, be now
amended by adding thereto a section to be __nown as Section 8b, as
ollows:

"Section 8b. Every person, firm, company
or corporation before engaging in any business, occupation,
profession, trade or calling hereinafter mentl.oned and described,
shall pay the license tax hereinafter provided and set opposite
the name of the business, occupation, profession, trade or calling
The business, occupations, professions, trades and callings for
which license taxes are required hereunder together with the amouni
of such license tax, the same applying to every business location,
except as otherwise specifically set out, are as follows, to -wit:
Dry Cleaners, Dyers, Renovators
and Pressers, operating plants and
places of business wherein said work
is done within the City of Paducah,
Kentucky and subject to inspection
therein, per year

Dry Cleaners, Dyers, Renovators
and Pres.ers not operating their
plants and .)laces of business and
causing their work to be done in
the City of Paducah and subject to
inspection therein, and who solicit
the work or business of cleaning and
dying by agents, servants or employees,
and causing the said dry cleaning,
dying, renovating and to be
:pressing
done at points outside of the City of
Paducah, ISentucky, per year

Laundries, hand or steam, op_rating
plants and places of business wherein
said work is done within the City of
Paducah, Kentucy, and subject to
inspection therein, per year
50.00
Laundries, hand or steam, not
operating their plants and places of
business and causing their work to
be done in the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, and subject to inspection
therein, and who solicit trade and
custom for such laundries by agents,
servants or employees, and causing said
work to be done at points outside of
the City of Paducah, Kentucky, per year
200.00
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith and to the extent only of such conflict are herely
repealed. All of the other provisions of said ordinance aforesaid,
and to which this section is an amendment, except to the extent
that the same is extended and amended hereby, are hereby adopted as
a part hereof, and this ordinance shall be an extension or addition
to said ordinance aforesaid.
SECTION 2.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in
'ull force from and after its adoption.
