HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 9, Page 955, No Ordinance Number17-71--r AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE AWARDING OF CONTRACTS FOE THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN ADDITIONS, EXTENSIONS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO THE PADUCAH WATERWORKS, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, L. V. BEAN, TO SIGN SUCH CONTRACTS AND TO SIGN AND APPROVE ALL DOCUMENTS, PROPOSITIONS, OPTIONS AND PAPERS IN CON- NECTION THEREWITH, WHEREAS, it has been determined to build certain extensions to the Paducah Waterworks, consisting mainly of a reser voir and all extensions of mains, and the obtaining and improvemen of right-of-ways, easments and building sites in accordance with plans and details heretofore agreed upon between the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works, by and through the State Director for the State of Kentucky, and the City of Paducah and it Commissioners of Waterworks, by appropriate action heretofore taken, and, WHEREAS, pursuant to appropriate preliminary agree- ments heretofore effected, advertisement wad duly made for receiving bids for said work under contracts designated as contract "A", "B" and "C", and which bids were duly opened at ti -.e office of the Paducah Waterworks in Paducah, Kentucky, on the 1st day of November, 1935, and at which letting the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works, through its ]Legal Representative was present and participating, it was found and determined that the lowest and best bids there offered were as follows: Eor Contract "A", Strandberg Brothers Company at $86,250.00. For Contract "B", The Barnett and Record Company at 011, 509.62. For Contract "C", United States Pipe and Foundry Company at $28,151.36 AND, WHEREAS, the Paducah 1'+aterworks has been advised by George H. Sager, Jr., Acting State Director (Ker_.tucky) for the Administrate -r•, that said bids have been approved by him, for and on behalf of the said State Director (Kentucky) for the said Adm_nistrator, and it being necessary and desired that the Oity of Paducah, by and through its Board of Commissioners shall approve the awarding of said contract, and authorizing the signing ther of for and on behalf of said City of Paducah. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY Tei L` BOARD OF COMMIS8IONFRS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. Sager, Jr., Acting State Director (Kentucky) For the Administrator, subject to the passage of the ordinance by the City of Paducah approving the same, end authorize the execution of the contracts thereunder by the City for such purposes; the said awarding of contracts is now in all respects approved, ratified and confirmed by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, and L. V. Bean, City Manager of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to sign any and all contracts necessary or required for the carrying out of the Purposes of this ordinance and for the com- pletion of said contracts with said bidders aforesaid.
