AA ORDINANCE' PROVIDING FOR THE FNFORCE:rirNT OF
DELINQUENT TAX LIENS, THE COLLECTIO'i OF DELIN(,UENT TAXES AND
AUTHORIZING AND E: PO':5:!IIi!G THE CORPORATION COUNSEL AS DELIN(1UFNT
TAX COLLECTOR 10 INSTITUTE AND PROSECUTE WECESSARY PROCEEDINGS
FOR THE PURPOSE OF COLLECTING DELINQUENT TAXES AND E11,-O1!CING
LIEduS FOR SUCH PURPOSES, AIND PROVIDING CO',:PENSATION FOR LUCH
SERVICES.
WHEREAS , there has accumulated a very large amount of
delin_uent t::x bills representing taxes due and owing to the
City of Paducah and to the Board of Education of the City, and
which the Treasurer has been unable to collect, and, whereas
the collection of said taxes is necessary for the -,roper and
efficient operation and maintenance of the City Government and
for the Schools of the City, and whereas, large numbers of Public
Improvement tar_ bills have likewise become delinquent and it is
the duty of the City to enforce said tax bills or collect said
taxes and the enforcement of said tax claims can better be
effected through the Legal Department 'of the City.
NM'.', THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF
CO'.IIISSI0ChRS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, i�--NTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
In order to collect all delinquent taxes or:in3 to the
City of Paducah and to the Board of Education of the City, and to
collect all delinquent public improvement taxes, the Corporation
Counsel of the City is hereby authorized, empowered and directed
to institute any and all necessary legal proceedings to enforce
said tax liens against t e property subject to such delinquent
jl taxes, and for such purpose may proceed in any Court having
r jurisdiction thereof or by any proceedings authorized by law. The
Corporation Counsel, as delinquent tax collector, "fill proceed
upon all lists of delinquent taxes furnished to him by the
Department of Public Finance, or such other lists as may be
authorized by the City Manager or Board of Co-issioners, but all
tax brills shall remain in the office of the City Treasu_Tar until
the amounts thereof with interest and penalties have been fully
paid; and all collections or receipts of taxes, by and through
proceedings instituted or conducted by the Corporation Counsel,
shall as and ,hen collected or received by him be forthwith

accounted for and paid to the Treasurer, and such tares as

collectcl and reported through the efforts and activities of the
Cor!)oration Counsel shall as and when delivered to the Treasurer
be acc=7:anied by statement showing the names of the part:iec fro.n

thereof; and the Treasurer shall uron receipt of same issue
receipt to the Corporation Counsel for all such taxes so paid
into the Treasury by him. But no action shall be deemed to be
required to b�i- commenced hereunder until a statement of the taxes
sought or intended to be recovered, together with the descri?tion:
of the property against which such tax liens are to be enforced
shall be furnished to the Corporation Counsel. The Corporation
Counsel shall mare all necessary investigations to det•:rmine
the condition and status of the parties and titles to be
affected by the enforcement of the liens and for the protection
of the City in such proceedings.
SECTION 2.
In addit°on to the compensation paid to the Corporation
Counsel for his other services in handling tiie general litigation
of the City and in defending actions for and on behalf of the
City, and advising and assisting the officials in various
departments and board of the City, he shall be paid the further
sum for his services rendered under the provisions of this
ordinance the sum of t?100.00 per month, payable at the same time
and in the same manner as other officials and employees of the
City are paid.
SECTIO\ 3.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its adoption and publication.
