HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 9, Page 918, No Ordinance NumberAN ORDINANCE REGULATING MID LICE.PSING ASTROLOGERS, CLAIRVOYANTS, FAITH DOCTORS, FORTUIIE TELLERS, HYPNOTISTS, PALMISTS AND PHRENOLIGISTS, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR, VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CO'TIMSSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, I TTUC Y: SECTION 1. Parc 918 That Astrologers, Clairvoyants, Faith Doctors, Fortune Tellers, Hypnotists, Palmists and Phrenoligists shall pay a license tax to the City of Paducah of One Hundred (0100.00) Dollars per year for advertising or practicing their art, profession or business in said City, and no person, firm company or corporation shall engage in any of said business, occupations, professions, trades or callings until such license is applied for, procured and paid for. No person shall be entitled to receive or have issued to him a license under this ordinance who has not been a citizen of the City of Paducah and resident therein for at least one year before applying for such license. Applications for licenses hereunder shall be made in uniting and the person applying therefor shall state his name, age and place of residence, including his street address wLthin said City, and shall specify the business,. occupation, profession, trade or calling which he proposes to pursue, and all licenses issued hereunder shall specifically state the place of business of the applicant or the place where such business, occupation, profession, trade or calling is to be pursued. Licenses here - shall not be transferable from one person to another, nor transferable from one location to another without the written endorsement thereon of the City Treasurer, and no licenses shall be issued for a less period of time than the Fiscal Year. SECTION 2. Any person engaging in any of the businesses, occupations;, I professions, trades or callings herein described without having first procured the licenses 1jerein provided shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined the sum of not less than Five ($5.00) Dollars nor more than One Hundred ($100.00); Dollars. SECTTION 3. All funds arising under the provisions of this ordinance shall be paid in the City Treasury and placed to the credit of the General Revenue Fund of the City and shall be used in defraying current and incidental expenses of the City. Page 919 SECTION 4. This ordinance shall supercede the provisions of any and all existing ordinances in so far as -they may be in conflict herewith. SECTION 5.
