AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEASING OF A GENERAL
• SPECIAL 1000 GALLON METROPOLITAN TRIPLE COMBINATION PUMPING ENGIiTE,
PUMP, BOOSTER & HOSE CA.R CO;:iPLETE, AND TAKING AN OPTION THEREON AND
PROVIDING THE MAIINER OF PAYING SAID LEASING PRICE AND AUTI;ORIZING
THE DELIVERY OF ONE JEFFREY DOUBLE COMBINATION HOSE AND CHEIrIICAL
FIRE TRUCK, NO'rJ OUT OF COUMISSION, AS PART PAYi3rNT FOR SAID LEASING
PRICE AND PROVIDING TERMS FOr A CONTINUATION OF SAID LEASE.
WHEREAS, it has become necessary for the City of
Paducah to install a one thousand (1000) gallon pumper in the Fire
Department fully equipped for service, as required by the Actu](arial
Bureau in order to properly protect the property of the City of
Paducal;i from fire haza0d, and
WHEREAS, there are no funds unappropriated for the
current year out of which the full purchase price of said fire
enipment could be purchased and paid for, and
1717 -REAS, the General Ianufacturing Company has agreed
to lease to the City of Paducah a General Special 1000 Gallon
Metropolitan Triple Combination Pumping Engine, Pump, Booster &
Hose Car Complete, which is valued by it at Twelve Thousand
(012,000.00) Dollars, and wb ich said General Manufacturing Company
will lease to the City of Paducah for the delivery to it of one
Jeffrey Double Combination Hose and Chemical Fire•Truck, which is
now out of commission and cannot be used by the City, at an agreed
valuation of Seventeen hundred and Fifty ($1750.00) Dollars, and
the payment of One Tho•isand ($1000.00) Dollars in cash and will re-
new said lease froli3 year to year so long as the city may desire to
keep said equipment, by the pa:-in5 thereon the sum of Eighteen
Hundred Fifty ($1850.00) Dollars per year with interest on such
payments.from the date of delivery and acceptance of said pumper
aforesaid, then said General Ilarufacturing Company v.ill, for the sum
of One ($1.00) Dollar, convey the absolute title to said property
to the City of Paducah, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THI. BOARD OF COYMISSIONLRS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That the Mayor is hereby authorized and empo';ered to
sign a contract of lease and option with the General T.In ufacturing
. Company for the leasing to the City of Paducah of a certain General
Special•1000�Gallon Metropolitan Triple Combination Pumping Engine,
Pump, Booster & Hose Car Complete, according to the proposal of the
General Manufacturing Cw pany, vahereby it proposes to lease to the
City of Paducah with the oprion to purchase said Fire equipment

aforesaid, by the paying of One Thousand (.1000.00) Dollars in cash and
the delivery to the General Ilirnafacturing Company of one Jeffrey Double
Combination Hose and Chemical Fire Truck at the agreed price of Seventeen
Hundred and Fifty ($1750.00) Dollars; all of said payments to be credited
against the opTion price of Twelve Thousand ($12,000.00) Dollars, and with
privilege to the City of Paducah to continue said lease from year to year
at its option, as provided in said proposal aforesaid, until the full
amount of Twelve Thousand ($12,000.00) Dollars hasbeen paid to the
General Manufacturing Company with legal interest thereon as provided in
said proposal'.
SECTION 2.
Said proposal and contract shall not become binding upon
the City of Paducah, nor will the city be in any:;ise obligated to pay the
first installation or rental price or leasing price upon said property
until after said pumper has been delivered to the City of Paducah and it
has passed the twelve hour endurance test of the National Board of Fire
Underwriters and to comply and satisfy all renuirements of the National
Board of Fire Underwriters and the Kentucky Actuarial Bureau for pumping
engines of one thousand (1000) gallon capacity; but upon complying with
said requirements, said proposal, contract and lease shall be deemed to
be in full force and effect, after same had been signed as required by the
first section hereof.
SECTION 3.
On account of the fact that the classification of fire rates
and risks has been withdrawn from the City of Paducah and will not be
restored until the installation of said pumper in the Fire Department and
the delay of waiting one week and ten days will result in heavy loss
if said ordinance is permitted or required to, ay over said length of
time for its pac•sage, an emergency is hereby declare' to exist and this
ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the
Board of Commissioners. n
