BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CO-11ISSIONERS OF T
CT! OF PADUCAH, XENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That on and after the first day of January, 1935, and
on the same day in each succeedin year hereafter, it shall be
unlavful for any person, fir!i;, co .: ,any or corporation to engage
in any business, occu;ation, profession; trade or calling
hereinafter mentioned, in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, until
such person, £irm, company or corporation has first paid the
amount of license tax to the City Treasurer and has obtained
fro;;i •him license as hereinafter specified and re : uired; if any
such license tax be not so paid and the license )rocured on or
before the first day of February in each year hereafter, there
shall be added to such license tax a Penalty of Ten (10) per
centum thereof, and any and all such persons, firms, companies
or corporations raying, or offering to pay such license taxes

All such licenses shall have printed or stamped on
the face of same, in large figures, the ye --r for :,;hick some are
issued, and it shall be the duty of the persons procuring or
havin> such license to ':eep same )osted or otherwise exposed in
so:ae conspicuous place in his or thci place of business,
-"here the same shall at all ti:.1es, be within the public vie;.:.
No person, firm, coi-parry or corporation to whom any
Ucence is issued as horein provided for, shall be authorized
to do any busine s thereunder, other than that specified in
Such license.

SECTION 2.
Each license shall stc.Le the name of the person, firm,
company or ::orporation to viiom it is issued, cnd no such license
shall be assignable or transferable, nor shall any such license
authorize any person, firri, company or corporation, otiier than
the one mentioned in the license, to do any business, or to
follow any occupation, profession, trade or cal�.ing other than
that provided i:1 such license.
SECTION 5.
All licenses granted under this ordinance, cscept
as otherwise herein provided shall expire on 'the 61st day of
Decemberof each and every year, and no license except as
other,.;rise herein provided, shall be issued for a less period of
t Lae than six (6) months, and if applied for prior to the
first day of July shall be issued for the full year, nor for a
less fee than One (1,,1.00) Dollar. ?o portion of any license tax
s'ra11 be refunded to any person, firm, co :,ja-V or corporation,
or to anyone else for their use or benefit.
SEC T IOII 4.
An advertisement of' any kind by any person, firm,
company or corporation, that he, .they or it, is engaged in any
callin.,, occupation, trade, business or profession, for the
carrying on of raicii a license is re aired under this ordinance,
shall be conclusive evidence of the liability of such person,
firm, co::;pany or corporation for such license tax as )rovided, by
this ordinance.
SECTION 5.
Every person, firm, company or corporation_ desiring
to procure a license, as herein provided, shall rhen re,_uired,
make application in writing to the City Treasurer, ivin•: and
disclos;in: the information ncces,ary to enable the City Treasurer
to determine the amount of license tc..- to be paid, the character
of business to be conducted, and such other facts as L!ay be I
necessary or ;)roper to determine inaether the applicant for such
license shall be
granted the license applied for, and in order
to ascertain any facts necessary to determine the a:iount of
license tax to be raid the City Treasurer may re uire each
a}rolicant, so to furnish such informs:tion, under os.th,
ap may be so required.

SECTION 6.
Upon violation of any provision of this ordinance
by any person, firm, company or corporation holding a license to
engage in any business, occupation, profession, trade or calling,
as herein provided, such license may be revoked by the Board of
Commissioners; and the judgment of conviction in the Police Court
or any other Court of competent jurisdiction of a violation of
any of the provisions of this ordinance, shall be conclusive
evidence of such violation.
SECTION 7.
Each person, firm, company or corporation, carrying
on or conducting any business, trade, occupation, employment or
profession for which a license is re,uired under the provisions
of this ordinance, or any other ordinance not repealed by this
ordinance, where a fine has not been provided for, :;ithout first
having obtained a license to carry on and conduct such business,
trade, occupation, employment or _profession, shall be guilty of
a.-lisdemeanor; and upon conviction in the Police Court of the
City of Paducah, shall be fined not less than Five ({5.00)
Dollars nor more t'zn Twenty (•20.00) Dollars, and each day
flat such business, trade, occupation, employment or profession
is carried on without such license shall be considered a separate
offense.
SECTION 8.
Every person, firm, company or corporation, before
engaging in any business, occupation, p_ofession or trade or
calling, hereinafter mentioned and described, shall pay the
license tax hereinafter provided, and set opposite the name
of the business, occupation, profession, trade or calling. The
business, occu)ati.ons, professions, trades and callings for
which license taxes are required, together with the amount of
such license tax, the same applying to each business location,
extent as otherwise specif;_cally set out, are as follows:

Any person, firm or corporation engaged in
the business of soliciting, placing or smiting
any forms of insurance shall be deemed an
agent broker or solicitor and shall pay the
above license, independent of any and all
license or fees which may be paid by the
Company or Comanies represented by him or
them. This does not include colicitors engaged
by Insurance Coma _lies .r:ritin- industrial
insurance in the City of Paducah, Kentucky.
Nor to license Agents of Licensed Insurance
Companies under the laws of the State of
Kentucky.
Insurance Company -
Every Insurance company doing business in this
City shall, on the �lst day of December in each
year or within thirty days thereafter, return
to the City Treasurer for deposit, a statement, under
oath, of all premiums received in this city during
the year ending on the 31st day of December, and
shall at the same time, pay into the City Treasury,
a tax of Two Dollars upon each One Hundred Dollars
of said oremiums so ascertained, less return
premiums allowed on cancelled policies, and any,
insurance com)any doing business, shall include
in the statment above referred to. The Dremiums
received for such business, and the same shall
.be included in the total business and the tax
paid on same, as above set out; provided, however,
that the minimum tax under this Section shall
be Twenty-five 0;25.00) Dollars. Any Company
failing or refusing, for Thirty days, to return
the statement recuired under the oath of some
principal officer or local agent, and to pay
the tax herein recuired shall forfeit Fifty
Dollars for each offense. And the Board of
Commissioners shall revoke the license of such
Company .:ithout notice. This provision shall
apply to every Lind of Fire, Tornado and other
insurance not otherwise expressly provided for
herein.
Insurance, Jutual or Reciprocal Indemnity Com;)anies 50.00
It shall be the duty of each Reciprocal,
i.iutual of Indemnity Company, firm or
corporation which has received premiums
on risks in the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
to file a srforn statement by the "'anager or
President or Secretary of such com,*)any,
corporation, firm, association, exhange or
concern or by the local resident agent thereof,
showing the various lines smitten and setting
out the net premiuiiis received; such sworn
statement shall be made within thirty days
after the 51st day of December in each year
to the City Treasurer of the City of -Paducah,
Kentuc':y, and such statement shall be accoiaaanied
by the tax of 50.00. The term premium as used
here shall include all payments in whatever form
collected, paid or received. Any Company,
corporation, firm or association exchange or
concern failing or refusing for thirty days to
return the statement recuired under oath as set
out '_ierein, and pay said -license, shall forfeit
50.00 and the Board of Commissioners may revo"ce
the license of such company without notice.

SECTION 9.
It shall be the duty of each -)erson, firm, company
or corporation, owing any dog or dogs after haying the license
tax herein required, to apply to the 6ity Treasurer for a
numbered dog tag, which tag shall be placed upon a. collar or
otherwise securely fastened about the nec'v of the dog or dogs.
SECTION 10.
No license herein provided shall authorize or
entitle airy holder hereof to conduct any business, or to engage
in any occupation, profession, trade or calling, in any manner
or at any time, in violation of any ordinance of the City of
Paducah, or of any law of the State of Kentucky or of the
United States.
y }{ SECTION 11.
If any person, firm, com,)any or corporation shall
misrepresent any material facts as to the nature of business
in his application for such license, or any other fact
necessary or proper to determine the amount of the license tax
to•be charged or paid, such license'so procured by reason of
such misrepresentation may be revolved by the Board of
Commissioners at any time.
SECTION 12.
All moneys derived from license taxes under the
provisions of this Ordinance shall be paid to the City
Treasurer and _laced to the credit of the General Revenue Fund
of the City of Paducah, and shall be used and expended in
defraying the current and incidental expenses of said City.
SECTION 13.
Should any section, or part of section or any
provision of this ordinance be declared by the Courts, for any
reason, to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the
validity of this Ordinance as a whole, or any part thereof,
other than the particular section or provision of the ordinance
so held or declared to be invalid.
SECTION 1^.
This Ordinance shall be construed as reoealin� the
General License Ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners

on the 50th day of December, 1932, but the provisions of all
. other ordinances specially licensing and regulating businesses
and professions not specifically covered by'or embraced in the
provisions of this ordinance are not hereby repealed or modified,
and it shall be considered as additional regulations to all
such Ordinances.
SECTION 15.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and including the first day of January, 1935.
