HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 9, Page 858, No Resolution NumberPage 858 RESOLUTION APPEALING TO THE GOVERNOR THE HONORABLE RUBY LAFOON TO VETO THE -UTILITY COLEAISSION BILL. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COTnWISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the Governor of Kentucky, the Hon. Ruby Lafoon be and.he is respectfully hereby urged to veto that certain bill or act recently passed by the General Assembly, known and referred•to as the Utility Commission Bill, and now pending before him for his consideration; that said bill imposes unwarranted burdens upon the municipalities and people thereof and subject the municipalities to foreign and non resident control and management to the great damage and inury of the citizens thereof; and it is to the interest of local self- government that said bill be not allowed to become a law. Since its defeat can only be accomplished by the Governorts veto the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, representing the City as a government and reflecting the undivided -sentiment of its citizens, urges upon the Governor to veto said bill. SECTION 2. Be it further resolved that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to forthwith certify a copy of this resolution and cause the same to be transmitted directly to the Governor of Kentucky.
