HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 9, Page 857, No Ordinance NumberPage 857 AN ORDINANCE FURTHER REGULATING THE DEPARTMEUT OF PUBLIC FINANCE, PROVIDING FOR THE PiORE EXPEDITIOUS HANDLING AND PAYMENT OF CLAIMS, AND THE AUDITING AND REPORTING THEREOF TO THE BOARD OF COUI;,uISSIONERS. WHEREAS, it is•essential to the expeditious handling of the accounts and the payment of claims against the City of Paducah that all such accounts and claims be audited, examined and approved in the Department of Public Finance, and that no such claims be paid except in pursuance to appropriations theretofore made for such purposes; and that said auditing, examination, approval and payment be made, when so authorized, in said Department of Public Finance without further action by the Board of Commissioners,- NOW, THEREFORE; - BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COLE-IISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. All accounts and claims for the paymentof which funds have been appropriated or apportioned shall when audited examined and approved by the City Manager, or some authorized employee or officer in the Department of Public Finance, at his direction, be paid as now or as may hereafter be provided by law. Twice each month the Department of Public Finance shall submit a report to the Board of Commissioners setting out in detail the payroll and amounts paid to each person in the employ of the city, and not less than once each month a detailed statement of all o'her claims and accounts that are presented for payment including such claims as are disputed and not approved. The reports provided in this ordinance shall be additional to other reports and statements required by law to be made to the Board of Commissioners. It is the purpose of this ordinance to provide for the prompt payment of all accounts, claims and salaries, for the payment of which funds have been appropriated or apportioned, x�rithout requiring said claims to be submitted to the Board of Commissioners for allowance.
