HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 9, Page 848, No Resolution NumberRESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EFFECT NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE DIRECTOR OF THE: FEDERAL INDUSTRIAL ChNSUS AT PADUCAH FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS TO BE MUTUALLY AGREED UPON TO INVETIGATE CERTAIN TAX BILLS OF DELINQUL+NT TAXPAYERS IN ORDER TO PROMOTE SAID CENSUS. WHEREAS, The Honorable John W. Counts, Director of a certain Industrial Census which is being made by the Federal Government in Paducah, -and as a part of said Census, - has been requested by the Federal Officials to obtain certain information requiring an examination of delinquent tax bills in the Department of Public Finance of the City of Paducah; and WHEREAS, Said investigation is required to be made by persons selected by the Federal Government; and the Director of said Census has a large number of qualified persons available for said work; but the space in said Finance Office is so limited that only a small number can be accomodated therein; and - WHEREAS, Said tax bills cannot properly or lawfully be removed from said office for such purpose, and can only be handled by persons appointed, selected or employed by the City of Paducah, - NOW, THEREFORE, IN order to make said records available for said purposes aforesaid and to properly safeguard same - BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: That the City Manager Hon. L. V. Bean, be and he is hereby authorized to confer with Hon. John W. Counts, Director of said Industrial Census for the Federal Government, and to select, appoint and have properly qualified, such employees who have been properly selected to conduct said. Census,I and provide for their inspection and examination of delinquent tax bills for the purposes of said Census, in such numbers and on such terms as may be mutually agreed upon by the City Manager and said Director;- it being understood that no part: i of the cost of said work shall be paid by the City of Paducah, and that said tax bills cannot be removed from said Finance Office nor detached from the tax books. c Upon the adoption of this Resolution a certified copy of same shall be furnished to Hon.
