PR®VISIONS OF LAW AN PROVIDING FOR THF PAYMENT THEREFOR. WHEREAS, it is provided by law that cities of the second class may acquire real estate for the purpose of establishing and maintaining aviation fields or ports, and it is desired that the City of Paftesh in the interest of the public welfare shall procure and establish and equip an aviation field, and the City through its Board of Park Commissioners having procured a suitable I site for such aviation field at the price mutually agreed upon I and which price is a fair and reasonable compensation for such property. NO'VI, THERFFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY TIM BOARD OF CO'fnJISSIONFRS OF THF. CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY. SECTION 1. j That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized and empowered to accept deed to certain real estate to be conveyed by Tommy B. Whittemore to a certain tract and pracel of land i. described in such deed as being a part of Lot #3 in the division i of J. M. Fountleroy's land as shown by Plat in deed book V Page 24 McCracken County Court Clerk's Office. for the purpose of establishing.and maintaining thereon an aviation field or port, so long as the same may be desirable for such use and for such other purposes as may be permitted by law. There is hereby appropriated for the purpose of paying the purchase price for Ii said aviation field the sum of Twelve Hundred ($1200.00) Dollars !,to be paid out of the Treasury of the City of Paducah and to be I used to discharge and satisfy a note heretofore executed by the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of Paducah to pay certain i heirs of George F. Backer, deceased, and in full satisfaction jand payment for the purchase price of said real estate referred to and described as approximately fifty (50) Acres. SECTION 2. On account of the fact that said property is now tendered to the City of Paducah with the understanding that unless it is paid for at once that the City will not be permitted to take title thereto, and the required time for the making of an appropriation jsufficient to defray the purchase price of said land being such that the City would lose the right to obtain said property, and the Public Health and Safety and the Public interest requiring that said aviation field be acquired speedily and without delay, Page 841 an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its adoption by the Board of Commissioners. � /) Signed % Mayor Passed by the Board of Commissioners January 8th, 1934.
