AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC FINANCE AND PROVIDING FOR THF APPOINTMFT NT OF
A DIRECTOR IN STJCH DFPPRTPrFTr7 All) SUCH OTFFR CLERICAL ASSISTANCE
AS MAY BF NECESSARY T HETFIN, AND FIXING THE AMOUNT OF OFFICIAL
BONDS OF SAID DIRECTOR AND OP THE CITY MANAGER.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMVLSSIONFRS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH , MP NTUCKY;
SECTION 1.
There is hereby created and established the
Department of Public Finance, under the control of the City
Manager, and which department shall have charge and control of
the collection, receipt, deposit and disbursement of all public
funds of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. The director of said
department shall be styled "City Treasurer." The City Manager
is authorized to appoint a City Treasurer and to fix and determine
the amount of bis compensation; and -in the absence of the duly
appointed City Treasurer, the City Manager may appoint an acting
treasurer, who shall temporarily perform the duties of the
treasurer during such period of absence or ina tility to perform

his duties.
The City Treasurer shall make daily deposits of
all funds received by him during the preceding twenty-four hours,
and shall furnish to the City Manager, at any time when demanded,
a certificate from the depository or depositories of such funds,
showing the balance on hand to the credit of the city, and shall
furnish such other information, upon demand, as may be required
by the City Manager, showing the amount of funds on hand, whether
on deposit or not, and showing the accounts to which they are
properly credited. The first appointments made under the
provisions of this ordinance shall be regarded as temporarily made,
and to terminate at the pleasure and discretion of the City
Manager)
SECTION 2.
All checks drawn upon all funds deposited by the
City Treasurer shall be signed by the City Treasurer and counter-
signed by the City.Manager; and in the absence of the treasurer
the acting treasurer shall sign said checks, and no funds shall

be withdrawn from any depository upon any checks or orders not
executed as required by this ordinance.
SECTION 3.
The City Manager and the City Treasurer shall
each execute an official bond to the City of Paducah, in the form

and. in the general terms of other official bonds of the City
of Paducah, in the sum of Ten Thousand ($p10,000.00) Dollars
each conditioned upon the faithful performance of their j
respective duties, and the faithful accounting of all funds l

coming into their hauls and under their control. For the
purpose of carrying out the nr ovisions of this ordinance the

City.Mansger is authorized to employ such additional clerical
help and assistance as may be necessary in perforning the duties ,
I
devolving upon said Department of Public Finance.
SFCTION 4.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
