AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THr CIA2FIFICATION AND
LICENSING OF VFHICLES PLYING TNT: STRFETS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAIT,
KFTNTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING A PENALTY FOR TNF VIOLATION OF SAID
ORDINANCE.

CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That it shall hereafter be unlawful for any person
or Persons, individual or individuals, corporation or corporations
company or companies, to use -or operate any automobile or motor
vehicle used for pleasure, hire or business, within the limits
of the City of Paducah, without first having obtained a license
to use and operate the same and paid the necessary license fee
thereon, as hereinafter provided.
SECTION 2.
Each and every person, corporation or company, owning
or operating a motor vehicle in the City of Paducah, shall,
immediately upon the acquirement thereof, make application to
the Commissioner of Public Finance of the City of Paducah for
licensing thereof, and shall furnish to said Commissioner the
name and address of the owner thereof, the name of the motor
vehicle, the capacity or tonnage rating thereof, and the number
of the license furnished said owner by the State 'of Kentucky.
All such applications for license shall hereafter be
made on or before the first day of January of each year. In the
event any person becomes the owner of a vehicle after said date .
of any year, then he is to be charged such proportion of the
license fee hereinafter set out as the date of purchase bears to
the last named date for the first year, and thereafter shall
pay the license fee on the 1st day of January in each succeeding
year.
SECTION 3.
The license tax required to be paid hereunder is as
follows:
For each and every Llotorcycle � 1.50
For each and every Passenger Automobile 5.00
For each Motor truck operated in the Citi- of.
Paducah for business or for hire, and for the
Purpose of raising revenue for exercising
supervisory regulation over said motor
trucks and for Policing said city and
regulating motor traffic therein, and '

maintaining and keeping in repair the public
Luys thereof, there is hereby levied and
imposed and ordered to be collected from
all persons, firms, or corporations operating
any such motor trucks, or loading or unloading,
in the City of Paducah, a license tax as
Privilege license on said trucks, the following
rate per truck:
Motor trucks or trailers - 1 ton capacity or less ........ 5.00
Motor trucks or trailers - 2 ton capacity
7.50
Motor trucks or trailers.- 3 ton capacity
10.00
Motor trucks or trailers - 4 ton capacity
. 12.50

Motor trucks or trailers - 5 on capacity
I 15.00
That when trailers are attached to trucks, or
motor vehicles and used for business, or for
hire, in Paducah, the ton capacity or load of
such trailer shall be added to the ton capacity,
or load of the said truck, for the purpose of
iclassifying said trucks into tonnage class.
The revenue levied and collected above shall be

used exclusively for the Purpose above set forth
and shall be collected by the Commissioner of
II Public Finance of said city, whose duty it shall
be to collect the license tax ordained to be
collected hereunder, which shall be due and payable
on the first day of January each year for the
period of one year from date, and the Commissioner
of Public Finance is hereby authorized to issue a
receipt for said tax. The ormer, and operator of
any motor truck herein referred to shall furnish to
the Commissioner of Public Finance satisfactory
evidence under oath, if necessary, of the capacity
Of such motor truck.
SFCTI0V 4.
If any such license tax be not so Paid and the
license procured on or before the first day of February in each

jyear hereafter, there shall be added to such license tax a penalty
of Ten (10) per centum thereof, and any and all such perons, firms,
companies or corporations Paying, or orferin; to pay such license
ta;(es after same have been delinquent, shall also pay said Ten
(10) per cent penalty thereon.

SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall apply to all persons residing in
the City of Paducah, and to all persons using one or more motor
vehicles In conducting or carrying on any business, occupation
or profession within the City of Paducah, or hauling into or out
of the .City of Paducah and using said City as a base or terminus.
SECTIOIT 6.
That any person, corporation or company violating the
provisions of this ordinance shall be fined not less than
five 0!5.00) dollars nor more than fifty (1550.00) dollars, and
each day said ordinance is so violated shall be deemed a
separate offense.
SECTION 7.
No existing ordinance shall be repealed by this
ordinance, except to the extent of conflict with this ordinance
and only to the extent of such conflict shall existing ordinances
or parts thereof be repealed.
SECTICD1 8.
This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage, record and publication.
