AN ORDINANCF REGULATING TRF CONSTRUCTION OF PUBLIC GARAGES
AND PF.F.ECKBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THERF.Or'.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMIFFIONFRS
Or' THF CITY Or' PAMCAR, KFNTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
All public garages hereafter constructed shall be of
fireproof construction, and all existing garages shall be made as
nearly fireproof as conditions will permit and shall have fireproof
floors inhere vehicles are placed. All public garages hereafter
constructed shall be entirely separated by solid walls of brick,
stone or reinforced concrete cc%struption from any ani? all portions
of buildings used for any other purpose. Every window exposing
any building within. fifty (50) feet shall have solid metal frames
and each properly glazed ith wired glass. All elevators,
stairways and ramps in public garages shall be enclosed with fire
resistible materidl and every opening in such enclosure shall be
protected by approved automatic fire doors.
No pits shall be permitted. No room used for storage shall
be permitted below grade which shall prevent natural v6ntilntion at
the floor level.
SFCTION 2.
The storage of gasoline shall be in underground tanks, and
where discharged inside of buildings, shell be handled through
humps approved for this use. No gasoline or other volatiles
or flammable liquids shall be allowed.to run or remain upon the
floor of any public garage.
No person shall be permitted to smoke or to strike any
match within any public garage. An adequate supply of approved
chemical extinguishers shall be kept convenient for use in case of
fire.
SECTION 3.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be fined not less that Five
($5.00) Dollars nor more than One Hundred 04100.00) Dollars.
SECTION 4.
No building permit shall be granted for the erection of any
public garage in violation of Any of the provisions of this
ordinance, and each day any of the provisions of this ordinance are
violated shall constitute a separate and distinct and fineable
offense.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall tal�ye effect from a after its passage.
