require immediate enforcement of,the provisions of "The City Planning
Aq„(i/6"TYQ� and Zoning Lave" adopted by the General Assembly of Kentucky in 1928,

OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to locate or construct any building or structure intended or designed
to be used for any business or industrial purposes, or to alter, change
or remodel any building to be used for such purposes, or.to use any
land for such purposes within any residential zone, district, neighborhooc
or section in said city, except under the conditions and provisions herein
provided.
SECTION 2.
y A residential zone within the meaning of this ordinance
e�2�``R shall be construed to mean any land fronting on both sides of any public
9)W9 street or court and extending to the rear.lot lines of the lots fronting
on such street or court, or to the center line of an alley, where at the

time of the enactment of this ordinance less than one-third of the
frontage of said land within any one block is used or designed for
business dr industrial purposes, and a block as herein defined shall
consist of the space from one intersecting street to the next intersect-
ing street. An intersecting street as used herein shall mean any street
or public way or court, twenty-five (25) feet or more in width, vrhich
joins another street or court at an angle, whether cr not it crosses
the other. The buildings used for the following purposes shall not be
construed as being used for business or industrial purposes: Churches
,ind other places of worship, schools, libraries, municipal buildings,
public play grounds, parks and reservetions; clubs, lodges, hospitals,
sanitnriums, boarding houses, apartment houses and hotels.
SECTION 3.
No person, firm, corporation or company desiring to loce
erect, construct or reconstruct any business or industrial building c
plant ::.7itrin the pity of Par'ucah shall be granted a permit for the
l.oention, erection or construction or re -construction of any such

conducted therein shall have been submitted to the City Planning
and Zoning Commission of Paducah, ISentucky and have boon approved
by said commission.
SECTION 4.
Notbing herein shall be construed as affecting the
provisions of the City Building Code or any ordinance or ordinances
of the City of Paducah now in force concerning the erection,
repairing or alteration of any buildings or structures of any
kind not herein expressly restricted and prohibited.
SECTION 5.
Before issuing any building permit or certificate of
occp,)pancy of any kind for a gasoline filling station, automobile
repair shop, public garage or parking lot, or stable, the
application therefor shall be first submitted to and approved by the
City Planning and Zoning Commission, and as so approved by said
City Planning and Zoning Commission, the same shall then be submitte
to the Building Inspector in said City for his consideration as
otherwise provided by la,.,i and ordinance.
SECTION 6.
It being the purpose of this ordinance to invest
the City Planning and Zoning`Commission with immediate and definite
authority regarding the control of the subjects over which they
are given power and control under said Act of the General Assembly,
known and referred to as "The City Planning and Zoning Law" afore-
said, the provisions of this ordinance shall continue in effect
until expressly repealed or superseded by other and more adequate
provisions which may hereafter be enacted by the Board of Com-
missioners.
SECTION 7.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith, except as heroin expressly provided, are to the extent
of such conflict hereby repealed.
SECTION S.
This ordinance shill take effect from and after its
adoption. �✓
