AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING THE INSTA LLATIcV AND INSPECTION
OF ALL ELECTRIC VVIRING AND APPLIANCES '.:'ITI-IIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY.

CITY OF PADUCAH, KENT Ma:
SECTION 1.
All electric wiring and appliances hereinafter ins
ed in or attached to any building or structure, within the corporate
limits of this city, shall be installed in accordance with the rules,
regulations and requirements of the National Electrical Code and the
inspection authority having jurisdiction. Any and all electric witing
hereafter installed in any building or structure, other than in one or
two-family private dwellings within the corporate limits, shall, if such
wiring is to carry a current exceeding fifty volts, be installed in iron
conduits, metal molding or armoured cable, installed in such a manner as
to comply with the requirements of the above mentioned code. All flex-
ible cords used in connection with iron conduits, metal molding or armored
cable wiring, shall be approved portable cords. All materials, flexible
cords,fittings or devices shall be of an approved type. It shall be
unlawful for any parson, firm or corporation to conceal electric wiring
until after said wiring shall have been inspected by the Electrical
inspector to be designated by the City and a certificate of approval
issued. It shall be unlawful for any electric light or power company to
connect with, or furnish current to any electric installation within the
corporate limits of the city, until after such electric installation
shall have been inspected by said Electrical Inspector and a certifiacte
of approval and acceptance issued.
All wiring shall be maintained in accordance with the
code in effect at the time such wiring was installed, and in the event
of remodeling all new wiring shall be installed in accordance with this
ordinance. In the event service has been disconnected or discontinued
in any building or structure because of any defects therein necessitating
a re -wiring of said building or structure or replacing of any material
part of said wiring therein, a certificate of inspection shall be secured
before service is reconnected, but no inspection shall be required nor any
certificate of insepetion secured in any case where the removal of a meter
has resulted from the voluntary discontinuance of service or change of
tenants or occupants in a building where the wiring hherein has not there -
been replaced or renewed.
