HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 9, Page 1039, No Resolution NumberPage 1039 I A RESOLUTION PREFERRING CHARGES AGAINST L. V. BEAN, CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF PADUbAH AND SUSPENDING THE SAID L. V. BEAN, CITY MANAGER, PENDING THE HEARING OF SAID CHARGES PUBLICLY, AND FIXING A TIME FOR SAID PUBLIC HEARING. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE )CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: That the said L. V. Bean, City Manager of the City of )Paducah, having heretofore been notified to show cause if any he ,has or can, why he should not vate the office of City Manager, )June 1st, 1936 and the said L. V. Bean not exercising his right to demand that charges be filed against him and a public hearing, and the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah exercising their right under the provisions of the Kentucky Statute pertainin€ to the Manager form of Government now make the hereinafter describe charges against the said L. V. Bean as the Manager of the City of Paducah: CHARGE # 1. That it is the duty of the said L. V. Bean as City Manager to enforce all ordinances of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and that said L. V. Bean as such City Manager, has failed so to do and although the Board of Commissioners have requested the enforcement of ordinance, he has failed and refused to discharge his duty and to comply with the request of said Board of Commissioners. CHARGE # 2. That on April 30th, 1936, the said L. V. Bean as City Manager by letter written to the said L. V. Bean by Edgar T. Mashburn, Mayor of the City of Paducah, which letter was delivered to the said L. V. Bean and which letter naw appears of record, page 538 of the proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, calling upon the said L. V. Bean to investigate the intoxication of the City Engineer; that said letter was duly received by the said L. V. Bean, City Manager and no action taken therein by him or reported to the Board of Commissioners as was his duty as City Manager. BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners that said charges against L. V. Bean, City Manager be set for hearing, June 17th, 1936 at 10:001clock A.M. and that a copy of this Resolution be delivered to L. V. Bean by the Chief of P91ice of the City of Paducah and the said Chief of Police make his endorsement on the copy of said Resolution and return the same to the City clerk of the City of Paducah. Page 1040 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of Commis that the said L. V. Bean, City Manager is hereby suspended and relieved of all duties pertaining to his office as City Manager pending the hearing of these charges.
