AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE HEALTH OFFICER OF TME CITY OF PADUuhh, KENTUCKY, AND THE ASSIGNMENT OF ADDITIONAL DUTIES TO SAIL HEALTH OFFICER FOR THE ESTABLISHRiENT OF ALL-TIP2 HEALTH SERVICE; PRESCRIBING Tali EUTIES ASSIGNED TO SaID HEALTH OFFICER AND FIXI. THE SALARY FOR HIS DUTIES HEREIN ASSIGNED. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF PAD?CAH, KEN2UuKY: SECTION 1. In order to provide for and secure the benefits that will accrue to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, by securing a competent physicialn, who will give all of his time and attention to the prevention of disease l and epidemics, and to supervise the general sanitation of said City; to give his services to the care and treatment of indigent white citizens of said City, the Board of health is hereby authorized to elect the Healt Officer who shall be executive officer and ex -officio a member of the Board of Health in said City, who shall perform the duties heretofore performed by the City Physician, provided that said`Health officer 'shall establish and maintain in Riverside Hospital a clinic, which shall be open at all times for the treatment of persons who are unable to pay for necessary medical aid and treatment subject to such reasonable schedule of office hours as ;aid Boara 'of Health shall fix and establish. SECTION 2. Said officer shall, in addition to his duties as Health Officer, attend to all cases of indigent white persons of said City who appear to be meritorious, that is, such sick or diseased persons as have no means to provide private treatment, or such as may be referred to him by the Mayor of said City upon recommendation of any charitable organization properly certified, or upon such investigation as will convince said h?ayo that same may be properly referred for such treatment. Said health Officer, and Ex -Officio municipal physician hereunder, shall in addition to the salary of $1000.00 for services as Health officer provided under ordinances of said City, receive the fumthe sum of $$2600.00 per year, making his salary $3600.00 per year, payable in monthly installments by said City. SECTION 3. Said officer shall execute a bond in the sum of $1000.00 for the faithful performance of the duties assigned him under the provisi of this ordinance. s NO. 945 SECTION 4. Said officer shall keep an accurate account of all expenditures property chargeable to said City under the provisions of this Ordinance and shall make monthly report of same, after being duly verified by his oath, to the General Council of said City; and he shall also keep and mai4tain a record of all visits for medical treatment for the costs and expense of medicines and supplies, which shall be shown by monthly report of same to said Council. 1 SECT- OIt 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval and publication. j. K.
