HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 8, Page 879, No Ordinance Number0 NO. 879, AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE I]J(PROVEP2ENT OF FOUNTAIN AVENUE (17TH STREET), FROM THE NORTH PROPERTY LINE OF BROAUPAY STREET TO THE SOUTH PROPERTY LINE OF MONROE STREET, IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, BY THE CONSTRUCTION OF A HARD SURFACE ROALWAY, TOGETHER V'!ITH ALL NECESSARY MANHOLES, INTAKES, CATCH BASINS, AND SEVIER PIPE CONNECTIONS, AND .ALSO THE RECONSTRUCTION eF CURBS AND GUTTERS lVHEVEVER NECESSARY, AS SHOVTN ON PLANS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH TH PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS PROVIDED THEREFOR BY THE CITY ENGINEER AT T COST OF THE ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS A14D PROVIDING THAT TIE COST OF SUCH CONSTRUCTION MAY BE PAID UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE TEN YEAR PAYMENT PLAN. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: �j SECTION 1. That Fountain Avenue (17th Street) from the north Property line of Broadway Street to the south property line of Lionroe Street, in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be improved by the construction of a hard surface roadway, together with all necessary manholes, intakes, catch basins and sewer pipe connections, and also the reconstruction of curbs and gutters wherever necessary, as shown on plans, in accordance with the plans and specifications provided it therefor by the City Engineer, and which plans and specifications will appear on file in the office of said Engineer, and are now referred + i; to and made part hereof, as if specifically set forth herein. SECTION 2. Said construction shall be made under the supervision and direction of the City Engineer and the Board of Public 'Norks of said City, and shall commence and be completed at the time designated by contract. SECTION 3. The cost of such construction shall be paid for wholly by the property owners fronting there6n, to be apportioned thereon, according to the number of abutting feet thereon, excep t that portion to be paid by the City of Paducah as required by law. SECTION 4. The contractor awarded the contract for the improvement herein provided for shall be paid in accordance with the terms and provisions of Sections 3096, 3100, 3101 and 3102 of the Kentucky Statutes. No. 88o SECTION 5. r The Mayor of said City is hereby authorized and directed to execute contract and accept bond required to be executed by the con- tractor awarded the contract for such construction. SECTION 6, Bids shall be received for the improvement herein provided, for in accordance with the plans and specifications made ,end provided therefor by the City Engineer, and the contract therefor shall be awarded to the lowest and best bidder. except the right is expressly reserved to reject any and all bids within the discretion of the General Council, and it may accept any bid which appears to be for the best interest of said City. 2 SECTION 7. The Board of Public Works is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of said improvements, and to make report of same to the General Council, together with its recommendation for the acceptance of any of same, or the,rejection of all of same.
