AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING F071 THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE HEALTH OFFICER
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND THE ASSIGNMENT OF ADDITIONAL DUTIFS
TO SAID HEALTH OFFICER FOR THE ESTABLISIWE1,77 OF ALL-TIME HEALTH SERVICE;
PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES ASSIGNED TO SAID HEALTH OFFICER AND FIXING THE
SALARY FOR HIS DUTIES IIEREIN ASSIGNED.
BE IT ORDAINED 9Y THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
In order to provide for and secure the benefits that will accrue
to the City of Paducah, Kentucky, by securing a competent physician, who
will give all of his time and attention to the prevention of disease and
epidemics, and to supervise the general sanitation of said City; to give
all services to the care and treatment of indigent while citizens of said
City, the Board of Health is hereby authorized to elect the Health Officer
who shall be executive officer and ex -officio a member of the Board of
Health in said City, who shall perform the duties heretofore performed by
the City Physician, provided that said Health Officer sl9p.11 establish.and
maintain in Riverside Hospital a clinic, which shall be open at all times
for the treatment of persons, who are unable to pay for necessary medical
aid and treatment subject to such reasonable schedule of office hours as
said Board of Health shall fix and establish.
SECTION 2.
Said officer shall, in addition to his duties as Health Officefi,
attend to all cases of indigent white persons of said city who appear to
be meritorious, that is, such sick or diseased persons as have no means to
provide private treatment, or such as may be referred to him by the Mayor
of said City upon recommendation of any charitable organizati•pn properly
certified, or.upon such investigation «s will convince said Mayor that same
may be properly referred for such treatment.
Said Health Officer, and Ex -Officio muhicipal physician here-
under, shall in addition to the salary of $1000.00 for services as Health
officer provided under ordinances of said City, receive the further sun
of $2600.00 per uear, making his salary $3600.00 per year, payable in
monthly installments by said City.
SECTION 3.
Said officer shall execute a bond in the sum of X1000.00 for•
the faithful performance of the duties assigned him under the provisions
of this ordinance. 1 00

SECTION 4.
Said officer shall keep an accurate account of ell expend,
tures properly chargeable to said City under the provisions of this
ordinance and shall make monthly report of same, after being duly
verified by his oath, to the General Council of said City; and he
shall also keep and maintain a record of all visits for medical
treatment, for the costsand expense of medicines and supplies, which
be shown by monthly report of same to said Council.
SECTION 5.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed and this ordinance shall take effect
be in force from and after its passage, approval and publicatinn.
