AN ORDINANCE CREIATING THE OFFICE OF COLORED CITY PHYSICIAN,
IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, WHICH PHYSICIAN SHALL BE ASSISTANT TO
THE CHIEF CITY PHYSICIAN, AND PRESCRIBING TH1? QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPEN-
SATION OF SAID OFFICER.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE; GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1.
That the officer of colored City Physician is hereby created,
and no one shall be eligible to said office who is not a graduate of
medicine and duly authorized to engage in the practice of medicine under
the laws of the State of Kentucky.
SECTION 2.
Said colored City Physician shall be elected by the General
Council as assistant to the Chief City Physician; shall have charge
of treating all indigent negro citizens of said City upon the call of
the Mayor or Health Office, or other persons designated by the Board of
Health, and said colored City Physician shall be under the supervision and
control of said Board of Health and shall make monft y reports showing in,
detail the cAlls and services performed by him. Such officer shall be
chosen for the term of one year by the General Council of said City and i
shall hold office until his successor shall have qualified.
SECTION 3.
The Salary of said Colored City Physician shall be $600.00
per year, payable monthly.
SECTION 4.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with
this ordinance are hereby repealed, and this ordinance shall take effect
and be in force from and after its passage, 4Lpproval and publication.
