AN ORDINANCL REGULATING THE '.YORI:ING( OF CITY PRISONERS ON THE
STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC PLACES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH; FIXING THE k'
SUPERVISION AND [OUR) OF LABOR AND PRESCRIBING PROCEDURE FOR THE
ENFORCEMENT HEREOF.
BE TT ORDATIPID BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF TTTE CITY OF PADUCAH
,ENTUC3'Y.
Section 1. That prisoners confined in the City Lockup, or
elsewhere under the control of the Paducah Police Court, having been
sentenced to do hard labor, or thvt maybe required.so to do, shall be
required to work on -.'.the streets, alleys and public places of theCity
of Paducah."
Section 2. Said prisoners shall be in the custody and subject
to the control of the Deputy Jailor of said city, and shall perform
such work as may be assigned or outlined by the Board of Public '..Yorks,
or the Superintendent of Streets.
Section 3. ,then as many as four prisoners are available for
working, said deputy jailor shall be :in attendance and supervise and
control them in the doing of the work so asigned,in accordance with
the following schedules of working hours, viz:
Beginning at 7:30 A.M. and suspending at 11:30 A.I.I. and
returning again after meal at 1:00 P.M.,and continuing until 5:00 P.M.
Furthermore, when as many as eight prisoners are available
for work the Superintendent of Streets shall furnish one pay -man to
assist in the doing, of the work and in the control andmanagement of said
prisoners, to the end that the work may be handled more efficiently.
Section 4. Any prisoner who refuses to do such labor,unless
excused therefrom by order of the City Physician, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and subject to a fine of not less than5.00 nor more than
N 25.00 for each offence. And in addition thereto such prisoner maybe
reportAto the court for contempt proceeding and for such dieting as maybe
adjudged by said court.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its passage, approval and publication
