SECTION 1.
That there is hereby created the office of City Sanitary

Engineer, whose duties shall be as herein outlined, or as may be directei
by the .Board of CommisslDnerS or General Council from time to time.
S&TIOII 2.
The City Sanitary Engineer shall be a technically educated
and trained sanitary engineer or civil engineer, with similar training
or experience in sanitary engineering work. He shall be qualified to
design the most intricate plumbing drainage systems and shall be compe-
tent to pass on the sufficiency of any type of plumbing sewer connect-
ions for the proper protection of the public health. Unless he shall
have the qualifications stated herein, he shall not be eligible to serve)
in the capacity of City Sanitary Engineer.
SECTION 3.
Unless otherwise directed by the Board of Commissioners,
the City Sanitary Engineer shall report to arl work, under the direction
of the Commissioner of Public Works, or the City Engineer. He shall
maintain a complete and easily understandable record in well bound and
accessible books of all stub ends of sewers which are left for future
plumbing connections. He shall issue permits for such connections and
shall inspect all plumbing and private sewers which may be corrected to
City Sewers, and shall perform all the duties of the Sewer I011octor, as
required by existing ordinances. He shall assist in draftirg in the
engineering; office and shall perform such envinoerinR duties as may be
required by the Commissioner of Iublic orks or City :ngineer. He shall
inspect every line of pipe placed in the ground for house connections
before said pipe is covered, and require that the joints shall be tight

and that the construction be durable and of such nature as will prevent
the seepane of around water into the sewer system.

S_]CTIOh 4.
The salary of the City Sanitary ningineer shall be One Hundred
and Fifty (•;x150.00) .Dollars per month.
SECTION 5.

Of Ordinn.7ices in conflict With the
provisions of this ordinance are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby
repealed.
SEC'TIOII G.
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after
its passage, record and publication.
