AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE APPOINTPfiENT OF A CITY SOLICITOR AND
CITY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY, PRESCRIBING THEIR DUTIES AND FIXING THEIR COM-
PENSATION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF CONIIdISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADU-
CAH, KENTUCKY: -
SECTION 1.
All the legal business of the City of Paducah, which was formerly
required to be performed by the City Solicitor and City Attorney, shall
hereafter be performed by a City Solicitor and a City Prosecuting Attor-
ney, each of whom shall be a regularly admitted and practicing attorney-
at-law. The City Solicitor and City Prosecuting Attorney shall each be
appointed by the Board of Commissioners, and shall serve at the pleasure
of said Board.
SECTION 2.
The City Solicitor shall appear for the City and attend to all
cases in the Circuit Court and Court of Appeals, wherein the City may be
a party litigant or a party in interest; and he shall give advice to any
and all city officials and attend the -regular meetings of the Board of
Commissioners, and special meetings when requested; and he shall super-
vise the preparation of all contracts to which the City may be a party,
and prepare all such ordinances as may be requested from time to time,
and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by ordinance. He shall
receive, as compensation for his services, the sum of One Hundred and
Fifty ($150.00) Dollars per month.
SECTION 3.
The City Prosecuting Attorney shall appear for the City in all
cases in the Police Court, and prosecute or defend in behalf of the City
all appeals from the decisions of said Court in vihich the City may be a
party, or is interested; and shall perform such other duties as the Board
of Commissioners may prescribe by ordinance; and for his services he shall
be paid Fifty (T'p50.00) Dollars per month.
SECTION S.
All ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage, re-
cord and publication.
