HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 7, Page 590, No Resolution NumberNo. Ordinance No. RESOLUTION EXTENDING THE TI14E WITHIN vdHICH THE PADUCAH & ILLI NOIS RAILROAD COIEPANY IS TO BEGIN IN GOOD FAITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF CER-, TAIN DEPOTS IN THE CITY OF .PADUCAH, KENTUCKY. WHEREAS, on the 29th day of PJfa,y, 1916, an Ordinance was passed. by the Commissioners of the'City of Paducah, granting to the Paducah & Illinois Railroad Company, its successors, as,�igns, or lessees, the right to construct and .maintain railroad tracks in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and to operate cars, trains and locomotives thereover, as i fully expressed in said Ordinance of May 29, 1916• in which Ordinance it was and is provided that said Railroad Company, its successors, as- signs or lessees should begin, within two years from the date of the passage and the record of said Ordinance, the construction of a passen- ger depot at or near the corner of Third and '+lashington Streets, in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, according to the terms and conditions as ex- I pressed in said Ordinance; and, VIHEREAS, shortly after the r-a.ssage of said Ordinance, and be- fore work was begun as provided in said Ordinance, war was declared by the United States of America against Germany, and shortly thereafter the United States Government assumed control of the operation of the Rail- roads of this country, and because thereof it became impossible for the Paducah & Illinois Railroad Company to carry out its plan for depots and terminals in the City of Paducah, as was intended; and VIHEREoS, the said Paducah & Illinois Railroad Company has now applied to the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah for a fur- ther extension of time for the beginning of the construction of the de- pots'and other things as provided in said Ordinance, beyond the•exten- sion granted by Resolution of Ilay 27, 1918, and the Commissioners of the. City of Paducah realizin.• that under the conditions that have existed, and do now exist, with the railroad companies of the country, that it has not been possible, and is not now reasonably possible, for the Paducah & Illinois Railroad Company to carry out its plans concerning the doing of the Mork, as provided for in said Ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVIED, BY THE BOARD 01' COLIMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF P_ADUCAH, KiMUCKY: SECTION 1. That the time in which the Paducah & Illinois Railroad Company, is to -begin in good faith the construction of its freight and passenger depots at or near the corner of Third and Washington Streets, in the ` L City`X?Elucah, be, and it is hereby extended for a period of six months from and after the first day of September 1920.
