BE IT ORDAIIIED BY ='H: BOARD OF COl:MISSIONhRS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, XENTUCXY; SECTION 1. i There is hereby created the position of City Attorney, who shall'i be elected by the Board of Commissioners, and c,ho shall serve at the I' pleasure of the Board. SECTION 2. There shall be elected by the Board of Commissioners a City Attorney, •Whose duty shall be to handle all tha legal affairs of the City of Paducah, both of Civil and Criminal nature. He shall appear _ for and represent the City in all actions in all courts wherein the City of Paducah is a party, •zither as plaintiff or defendant. He shall in- stitute all suits for and on behalf of the City; that is, when requested by the Commissioners to do so; and he shall defend all actions brought against the City and prepare all pleadings for and on behalf of the City in all such actions. He shall prepare all contracts, ordinanees, reso- lutions and other papers necessary for the use of) the commissioners, and attend the meetings of the Board of Commissioners when requested to do so by the Board or any member thereof. He shall give advice from time to time on all matters pertaining to the affairs of the City when re- quested by the Commissioners, or by any of the heads of the various City institutions. He shall defend all actions for damages „hich may be in- stituted or brought against patrolman for acts committed or alleged to be committed in the performance of their duties, or while actin, as patrol- men. He shall attend all sessions of the police Court and prosecute all No, tI V 1 Ordinance No. _—_. ._ ■ violations of City ordinances and laws, and render such services as may be requested from time to time by the Commissioners in the collect- ion of fines, forfeitures and penalties r:hich may be due to the City; and he shall perform such other duties as may be required by the Board of Commissioners. The City Attorney shall keep his office in the City Hall in such nlace.as may be selected .for same, and he shall be in his office at all reasonable times for the purpose of attending to the duties herein imposed upon him. He shall keep a record of all civil actions brought by -or against the City of Paducah, or against patrolmen, and the records so kept shall be the property of the City. He shall be paid a salary of y200.00.per month. SECTION 3. The offices of City Solicitor, _ssistant City Solicitor and Stenogranher to the Legal Department heretofore established are hereby abolished and terminated. SECTIO14 4.
