SECTION 1.
There is hereby created the position of Surerintendent of
Public Improvements. The qualifications, duties and compensation of
the Superintendent of Public Improvements shall be as herein provided.
SECTION 2.
There shall be elected by the Board of Commissioners a
Superintendent of Public Improvements, vho shall be a competent Civil
Engineer, and who shall ha ve some practical knowledge of the con-
struction, re -construction, surfacing, re -surfacing and repairing of
streets, alleys and other ways, and who shall also have some practical
knowledge of the building, repairing and maintaining of sewers, conduits,
gutters and sidewalks.
The Superintendent of Public Improvements shall have charge
of all equipment, and control of all men in the street department, and.
shall direct all work' in the maintenance, up -keep and repair of the
streets, alleys, gutters, sidewalks and other ways; and shall perform
such other duties as may be required of him by the Board of Commis-
sioners. He shall be under the direction and control of the Commis-
sioner of Public horks. He shall be paid a salary of x"150.00 per
month.

The posiLion of Street Inspector, and Assistant Street Inspect-
or, heretofore created and established, are hereby abolished and termi-
nated.
SECTION 4.
This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passaPe.
