HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 7, Page 501, No Ordinance NumberJV" 4Ll / Ordinance No.- -- AId ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CLASSIFICATION AND LICENSING OF VEHICLES PLYING THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, IEVTUCNY, AND PRI -l; - SCRIBING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAID ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF 001,11ISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCXY: Section I. That it shall hereafter be unlawful for any person or persons, individual or individuals, corporation or corporations, company or companies, to use or operate any automobile or motor vehicle used for pleasure, hire or business, within the limits of the city- of Paducah, without first having registered same and obtained a license to use and operate the same and paid the necessary license fee thereon, as herein- after provided. Section 2. Each and every person, corporation or com-oany orraing or operating a motor vehicle in the city of Paducah, shall, immediately i� upon the acquirement thereof, make application to the Commissioner of Finance of the City of Paducah for the registration thereof, furnishing to said Commissioner the name and address of the owner thereof, the name of the motor vehicle, the horse power thereof, and the number of the license � U \ �a furnished said owner by the State of I_entu.cky. All such applications for registration shall hereafter be made on or before the first day of January of each year. In the event any person becomes the owner of a vehicle after said date of any year, then he is to be charged- such proportion of the fee of registration hereinafter set out as the date of purchase bears to the last named date for the first year, and thereafter register and pay his license fee on the date above set forth. The license tax required to be paid hereunder is as follows: For each and every motorcycle .... ... .... .. :;1.50 her year. For each and every automobile or motor truck not exceeding 30 H. P. inclusive 5.00 per ,year For each and every automobile or motor truck of over 30 H. P. and up to but not including 10 H. P. 7.50 per year For each and every automobile or motor truck of 40 H. P. and over ....................10.00 per year Section 3. This ordinance shall apply to all persons residing in the city of Paducah, and to all persons using one or more motor vehicles in conducting or carrying on any business, occupation or profession within the city of Paducah. Section 4. That any person or persons, corporation or corporations, company or companies, failing to comply with the provisions of this ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not less than five (S5) dollars nor more than fifty (,;250) dollars, to be imposed by a judgment of the Police Court of the City of Paducah. Each day's violation of said ordinance shall be deemed a separate offense. Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances that conflict with the provisions of this ordinance, in so far as same conflict herewith, are hereby repealed. Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, record and publication. r. Nom Ordinance No. PTHEREiS, 1"4essrs. Tilghman Brothers, of New York City, have recently donated to the City of Paducah a very valuable site for the location of a new High School Building, and the Board of Education of said City having accepted the same; therefore - BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COTEdISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: That the deep and profound gratitude of the entire population of the city be tendered Messrs. ^>ilgbman Brothers for their generous donation, which is of such incalculable value to future generations and which will result in the furtherance of educational facilities and the general uplift of our people that we feel the appreciation of this contribution cannot be adequately enpressed, and we know that this magnanimous girt will in the future be a living monument to the philanthropic, donors, who have so splendidly manifested their love and remembrance for their former home city. BE. IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these Resolutions be spread of record and published, and that a copy of same be sent to I.Zessrs. :211ghman Brothers. _dopted January 3, 1920.
