A RESOLUTION FISING TELEPHONE RATES IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KJITUC_'Y,
BY AGREEIJENT WITH THE CU11BEHLAND TELEPHONE 8; TELEGRAPH CO1JPANY.
-WHEREAS, the rates and charges originally prescribed by a contract or
rate agreement heretofore made under date I+L_y 18, 1915, between the City of
Paducah and the Eumberland Telephone & Telegraph Company (which contract was
authorized by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah by motion or
resolution adopted May 18, 1915), under which the Cumberland Telephone r
Telegraph Company has heretofore operated its telephone lines in the City of.
Paducah, have become and are now inadequate in view of the emergency arising
out of the world war, the greatly increased cost of labor, materials and
supplies indispensable to the operation of an efficient telephone system, and
the necessity of increased expenditures and investments in extensions and
improvements of such system in order to give adequate public service, and
fiERE'_S, the. Cumberland Telephone & Telegraph Company, under said
contract or rate agreement, is now entitled to a readjustment of its rates
and charges for services at its Paducah exchange, to the end that such
rates and charges so readjusted shall be fair and reasonable under the
conditions and circumstances new existing, and
'JHEREAS, under Federal control of its properties the Postmaster
General found it necessary, in continuing the operation of such properties, r
to establish a schedule of increased rates end charges, the maintenance of
which schedule is requested by the Cumberland Telephone & Telegraph Company
as indispensable to the proper operation of its telephone properties in the
City of Paducah,
N07.7, TI-KEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COI,II ISSIOIIRS Or THE
CITY OF PADUCAH:
1. That by agreement with the Cumberland Telephone Fe Telegraph
Company, in lieu of the rates and charges prescribed in the contract or
rate agreement hereinbefore mentioned, a nerl schedule of rates and charges
is established hereby as a schedule of reasonable rates and'e"narges, and
the Cumberland Telephone & Telegraph Company is hereby authorized and per-
mitted to establish and collect, for services rendered by it at its exchange
in Paducah, Kentucky, the following rates and charges, namely;
Flat rates.
Business Special Line Service - ;;,4.25 per month
Business Duplex Service - 3.75 per month
Residence Special Line Service - 2.25 per month
Residence Duplex Service - 1.75 -per month
2. After the rates and charges herein authorized and agreed upon
shall have been in effect for a period of not less than twelve months from
December 1, 1919, either the City of Paducah or the Cumberland Telephone &
Telegraph Com=pany may, in the manner prescribed in the contract or rate
agreement of Iuiay 18,.1915, seek a revision or readjustment of the rates and
charges established hereunder, 'to the end that they shall at all times be

reasonable and fair and be fixed upon a just and reasonable basis, having
due regard to the conditions and circumstances under which the services
furnished by the Company are rendered.
3. Uuon reouest of the Board of Commissioners the Cunberland
Telephone & Telegraph Company shall, at least once a year after December
1, 1920, make a complete statement and report from its books of all its
operations, earnings and expenses, under the rates prescribed in this
-resolution, for the period called for by the Board of Commissioners; and
upon reasonable request of the Board of Commissioners it shall permit an
inspection of its boolcs and accounts pertaining to the business of its
Paducah exchange, for the uurpose of verifying such statements and reports.
S. This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage as
provided by law.
