`,`HER AAS, the rates and charges prescribe& by contract heretofore mane
under date of December 6, 1915 between the City of Paducah and the Paducah
Home Telephone & Telegraph Comoany, :?hieh contract was authorized by the
Board of Commissioners of the City of Paaucah, under which said Telephone &;
Telegraph Company has heretofore oner"ted its telephone lines in the city of
Paducah. have become and are non inadequate in view of the emergency arising
out of the world -war, the greatly increased cost of labor and necessary
materials and supplies for the efficient operation of said system; and,
'i1HERE S, the Paducah Home Telephone £. Telegraph Company, under said
contract or rate agreement, is now entitled to a readjustment of its rates
and charges for certain services performed by it at its Paaucah exchange, to
the end that such rates and charges so readjusted shall be fair and reasonable
under the conditions and circumstances now oxisting; and,
llHEREaS, it appE~xs that all rates, except the rate for business main line
service, provided in said contract of December 6, 1915, are inadequate and it
has become necessary to modify its said contract with the City Of Paaucah in
order to provide adequate rates; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF 0017?ISSIOITZ'RS OF THE CITY OF PLDUC_H:
Section 1. That by agreement with the Paducah Home Telephone & Telegraph
Company, that said contract of December 6, 1915 be and the same is hereby
modified to the extent that all charges for service rendered by said Company
-except those for business main line service- as prescribed in the contract
hereinbefore mentioned, shall be established in accord with the schedule of
rates hereinafter set forth; that said contract is hereby amended and modified
and_ a new schedule of rates and charges is established hereby as a schedule of

reasonable-rates and charges, and the Paducah Home Telephone & Telor h

Company is hereby authorized and permitted to establish and collect for
services rendered by it at its exchange in Paducah, -Kentucj--y, the Collovi-
ing rates and charges, namely:
Business Party line service ............. �i 3.00 per month
Residence main line service ............. 2.00 per month
Residence two-party line service ....... 1.75 per month
Residence four -party line service ...... 1.50 per month
Section 2. That after the ra.tes and charges heroin authorized and
agreed upon shall have been in effect for a period of not less than twelve
months from December 1, 1919, either the City of Paducah or the Paducah
Home Telephone & Telegraph Company may, in the manner prescribed in the
contract of Dec -ember 6, 1915, seek a revision or readjustment of the rates
and charges established hereinunder, to the end that they shall at all
times be reasonable and fair, and be fixed -upon a just and reasonable
basis, having due regard to the conditions and circumstances -under which
she services :furnished by the Company gre rendered.
Section 3. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah 111.y,
after December 1st, 1920, ado -pt a Resolution citing the Company to
appear before it fRild- to furnish any statement concerning its financial
condition or adequacy of rates, or the COm'.O,-,n,7 may file, with the
permission of said City, a petition for revision of rates and charges; in
either event a schedule of rates and charges which shall be fair and
reasonable under the conditions and circumstances as they may then exist,
shall be ado-otea. rnd fixed by the parties hereto and become the legal
rates to be charged by the Comnany. If no agreement is reached the right
to regulate rates as now fined by law, or as may hereafter be fixed by law,
is hereby reserved.
Section 4. That upon reasonable request of the Board of Commis-
sioners, the said Paducah home Telephone & Telegraph Company shall -permit
an inspection of its books and accounts pertaining to the business of its
Paducah exchange, for the purpose of verifying any statements that may be
required of it from time to time by the said City of Paducah.
Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its
passage and record.
