Ordinance No.
WHEREAS. the Paducah & Illinois Railroad Company has be- granted'
an extension of time to commence building its terminals is this city,
to serve the N. C. & St. L. Railroad and the C. B. & Q. Railroad, until
such time as the Government will permit this construction; and,
L'JHEREAS, it is known that the terminal facilities, freight houses,
and passenger station of this Company are totally inadequate for the
economical and expeditious handling of freight and passengers in and
through the City of Paducah, and great and unnecessary congestion is
resulting from the lack of adequate traffie.facilities, and the delay
in consequence thereof is very detrimental to the public interest at this
time; and,
ITHEREAS, in our opinion it would be false economy to defer the
building of these terminals, which would not only work a great hardship
on the carriers handling traffic in Paducah but will be of great incon-
venience to shippers and the traveling public in this city and surround-
ing territory; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COLLIISSIOITERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCICY;
Section 1. That we urge upon each of the interested carriers the
necessity of beginning viork at an early date, and we heartily pledge to
them our support and, co-operation in any manner that same can be used-
profitably.
sedprofitably.
Section 2. That a copy of these Resolutions be mailed to an
officer of each of the interested carriers, and that a copy of same be
sent to the Director General of Railroads of the United States.
Section 3. That this Resolution take effect from and after its
