Section 1. The City of Paducah, Kentucky shall construct,
operate and maintain a system of 'dater L orks in the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, for furnishing water to its inhabitants for public and domestic,
uses and for fire protection as set out hereinafter.
Section 2. The said City of Paducah shall install its own
fire hydrants and furnish water to extinguish fires in all that territory
of the City of Paducah in which are located the first One Hundred and
Fifty fire hydrants installed under the twenty ,year contract for use of
fire hydrants made by ordinance of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
approved September 30, 1884, and amended by ordinance approved October 6,'
1884, which ordinance constituted a contract between the City of Paducah,
party of one part, and one J. :. Jones, of St. Louis, L_issouri, and his.
assigns, party of the other part, and which twenty year rental contract
for the one hundred and fifty fire hydrants has expired under said ordi-
nance.
Section 3. The said City of Paducah shall install its own
fire hydrants to extinguish fires and for other public uses in all that
territory of Paducah in which additional fire hydrants have been in-
stalled under said ordinance and contracts with J. &. Jones and his
assigns above set, out in section two of this ordinance and on which fire

hydrants so installed under said contract the twenty year rental con-
tract had expired on January 1, 1915.
Section 4. In the remaining territory of Paducah in .which
fire hydrants were installed by J. A. Jones and his assigns under said
ordinance of the City of Paducah above set out and on which fire
hydrants the twenty year rental contract has not expired the said City
of Paducah shall only install its fire hydrants as rapidly as the twenty
year contract shall expire on the fire hydrants which have not yet
expired.
Section 5. For the purpose of paying for the construction and
installation of said 'dater '�',orks system the said City of Paducah shall
issue and sell its bonds to the amount of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand
Dollars, which bonds shall draw five per cent interest per annum, interest
payable semi-annually, each bond being of the denomination of one thousand
dollars and payable twenty years after its date, and which bonds shall be
sold for not less than par, the interest and principal being payable in
Paducah, Kentucky, at the office of the Commissioner of Finance of the
City of Paducah, and said bonds being redeemable at par by the City of
Paducah at any interest bearing period after ten years from their date.
Section 6. The rates charged the inhabitants of Paducah for
water shall be the same as charged to the inhabitants of Cleveland, Ohio,
for water on January 1, 1915, by the City of Cleveland, Ohio.
Section 7. Before this ordinance shall take effect it shall be
submitted to a vote of the qualified voters of the said City of Paducah,
Kentucky, at an election held in Paducah, Kentucky, at the voting places
in the several wards on the 2nd day of ilovember, 1915, and should a
majority of the qualified voters voting at said election vote for the
adoption of this ordinance then the same shall take: effect and become a
law; but if a majority of the voters at said election should vote
against this ordinance then the same is to be null and void.
