Sec. 1. That Section Sixteen (16) of an ordinance of the City of

Every fire insurance company doing business
in this city shall, on the 31st day of December
in each year, or within thirty days thereafter,
return to the Commissioner of Finance, for
deposit, a statement, under oath, of all prem-
iums received in this city during the year
ending on the 31st day of December, and shall
at the same time, pay into the City Treasury,
a tax of One Dollar upon each One Hundred
dollars of said premiums so ascertained, less
return premiums allowed on cancelled policies -
and any Fire Company doing also a Tornado, Wind
or Cyclone business, shall include in the
statement above referred to, the premiums
received for such business, and the same shall
be included in the total business, and tax paid
on same, as above provided: Provided, that
the minimum tax under this section shall be
Fifteen Dollars. Any Company failing or
refusing, for thirty days, to return the
statement required under the oath of some
principal officer or local agent, and to pay
the tax herein required, shall forfeit Fifty
Dollars for each offense- and it shall be the
duty of the Commissioner of Finance to revoke
the authority of such Company, and to publish,
in the official newspaper of said city, notice
of such revocation.
