AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NULIBER ONE (1), OF THE
'CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE .DETEIN.IINING TILE
FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENTS OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS, PUBLIC FINiN CE, PUBLIC
SAFETY, PUBLIC WORKS AND PUBLIC PROPERTY, AND PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES
OF THE C011MISSIONERS", PASSED BY THE BOARD OF C0131ISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH JANUARY 4, 1915, AND RECORDED JANUARY 4, 1915.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMLIISSIONERS OF THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
Section I. That Ordinance Number One (1), of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, entitled "AIT ORDIIIrOTCE DETE.JIINING THE FUNCTIONS OF THE
DEPARTIMITTS OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS, PUBLIC FIIIAITCE, PUBLIC SAFETY, PUBLIC
WORKS AND PUBLIC PROPERTY, AND PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES OF TILE COM-
MISSIONERS", passed by the Board of Commissioners January 4, 1915,
and recorded January 4, 1915, be, and the same is, hereby amended,
by striking from Section 5 thereof the following words,
to -wit :
"He shall have charge and control of the City Street
Lighting Plant and Department, and all employees thereof" -
So that said Section 5, when so amended, shall read as follows,
to -wit:
Sec. 5. THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS.
The following branches of the public service are hereby
assigned to the Department of Public 1'+orks: all civil engineering
done for, or in connection with, any work of the City, and all
departments pertaining to the public works and improvements, includ-
ing the construction or reconstruction of streets, public ways, side-
walks, sewers, bridges, viaducts, conduits, or other public structures,
except public buildings, the cleaning of all streets, alleys, and
highways, and all repairs, maintenance or upkeep of any of such
property, the inspection of all work done or improvements made- either
by order or under contract- the enforcement of all lms or ordinances
relating to bill -boards or other unsightly or objectionable or dangerous
buildings, or structures, upon or adjacent to the streets or highways
of the City, and all officers, agents or employees of the Uity con-
nected with the aforesaid Department, or any work being done under
the supervision of said Department shall be under the direction and
supervision of said Commissioner of Public Works.
He shall make monthly reports to the Board of Commissioners
on the state of his Department, and such special report concerning the
execution, completion and inspection of public works as the Board of
Commissioners may require.

Section II.- That Section 6 of said Ordinance be, and the same is, hereby,
amended, by adding thereto the following words, to -wit: "He shall have
charge and control of the City Street Lighting Plant and Department, and
all employees thereof" -so that said Section, when so amended, shall
read as follows, to -reit: .
Sec. 6. THE DEPiiRTME11T OF PUBLIC PROPERTY.
The following offices and branches of the public service are
hereby assigned to the Department of Public Property: The maintenance,
upkeep and cleaning of all public buildings of the City, except in so
far as said buildings are cleaned or maintained or kept by such other
f department of the City as may be herein, or by other ordinance, given
supervision and control thereover. He shall have charge and control of
the City Scales, City Weigher, City Cemeteries, and all employees thereof,
including the Sextons, the City Wharf and Wharfmaster, and all employees
of the City Hall, not otherwise assigned to some other department by
this, or other, ordinance of the City, the City Hospital -and he shall
have superintendence and charge of all officers, agents or employees of
the City required in connection with these several branches of the
public Service. He shall have charge.o£ the i.iarket House, the renting
of benches and granting of permits therefor. IIe shall have charge and
control of the City Street Lighting Plant and Department, and all the
employees thereof.
Section III. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage and record, and all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
