in the City of Pad.ucaL, Kentucky,
Be it ordained by the General Council of the City of Paducah, FCentu'eky,
Sec, 1, On the platform, or stage, and in the main hall and all public
halls, t:.eaters, or concert rooms in the City of Paducah, there shall be
erected, and maintain in good. working order. at least one stard pipe not less
than one, and one half inches in diameter, which shall be connected directly
with the v,ter supply pipe in the adjacent street, or alley.
Sec, 2, Attached, and connected to said stand pipe shall be a coil of
hose not less than fifty feet long, together with a nozzle of suitable size,

of the best quality.
Sec, 3, During all theatrical T rformances, lectures, concerts, or
shows of any kind liven in any theatre, publicr,all, or concFrt.hall in said
City, there shall be,constantly employed, and kept a competent man in charge
thereof, whose duty it shall be to remainisaid hose during the entire time

of such performances, lectures, concerts, or shows of any kind.
Sec, 4, It shall be the duty of the Chief of the Fire department to
notify the owners,lessees, or keepers of all public theaters, galls,
or concert rooms, now used, or to be used as places o2 public resort, and
of all factories employing ten, or more persons, if such factory be more
than two stories in ilei€rht, and of all offices, stores, or business, or
office building, wherein more than fourteen persons e.re employed, or have
their places of business above t:.e second floor, and all schools, hospitals,
or tenement buildings, more than two stories in height, or which are occupied
by more than four families, that the owners are required to and they shall
within three months after being so notified, build, or have built, and erected,
such building, permanent and suitable iron balconies, at

Sec. 5. In all public theaters and concert rooms in sai d city
the aisles, or passways leading; to the different places of eEress,
shall at all times be entirely open, erd unobstructed, and any police
officer of t;:e City shall : a.ve full power, and authority to c- use the
removal of a,ny obstruction viz.teverr, that would, in his judgment, and
in any manner jeopardize t e lives of people in endeavorinLr to escape
from such building in case of i'im , panic, or oti er cause.
Sec. 6. Any failure, r neEleet on t e pert of any person, firm, co-
partner ship, or corporation to comply with the requirements of the
foregoing sections, shall. be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction in the Police Court of the City of Faducali, shell be fined
in any sum not less than fifty dollars, nor more than one Hundred
dollars for each offense, and an additional fine of not le s than fifty

Sec, 7. All theaters, halls, or concert

public resort, before a permit shall be issued therefor, comj,lete architectural
drawings shall be submited for the approval of the Chief of the Fire Department

Sec, `�. Before the City Clerk of the City of Paducah shall issue a
license for any theater, or place of public amusement, or exhibition of any
kind in the City of Paducah, except where t e same shall te held in tents,
or on unimproved property, he shall require thepr,rson applying therefor to Nile
in r:is office, a certificate from the Chief of the Fire Department of Pe.ducah,
statin; that tr,e provisions of this ordimmnce of this -ordinance have been
complied with in all of its requirements.
Sec, a, Any manager, lessee, owner, cr keeper of any t•ieater, public
hall, or place of amusement carrying; on the business of theatricals, or
keep a place of amusement of any kind liable to pay a license under any ordinance
of the City of Paducah, who shall carry on such business vithout first iaving
furnished said certifice e shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on convic"ci
tion thereof, shell be fined hot less than ten dollars, nor more than fifty
dollars for each offense, and each s1low, or exhibition of a;ny kind is hereby
declared to be e, distinct offense.
Sec. 10. It j�hall be the duty of every owner, or keele r of a hotel,
public boarding house, or lodging house in the City of Paducah of three stories,
or ma e in height provide permanent iron balconies, with stairways, leadinggfrom
one balcony to another as provided in section four of this ordinance for op1ra
houses, etc, such belconies to be located at the End of all hallways, and the
dimensions of such balconies be the same as provided f� in section four of
this ordinance.
Sec. 11, In a]] hotels, public boarding, or lodging ¢houses in sai ` City
containing more then fifty rooms, and being; more than tvo stories high, the
owner, proprietor, manager, lessee, or keeper thereof, shall constantly
! employ or keep at least one competent trustworthy man &s vratchman, whose

Sec, 12, All hotels, public boarding houses, or dodging houses
hereafter built or reconstructed in the City of Paducah Ov8. twO
stories in heig,-t shall be so constructed that there shall be at
least tvo stairways for the use of guests, not lees than eigi t feet
wade leading from the ground floor to the uppermost story o' the
building; and no permit shall be issued for the erection of any srieh
builriing until complete architeetual drawings showing12—
