Be It ordained b d � y the General Council of the City of Paducah; Section 1: It shall be unlawful pose, or make eonneetions to uncover the public sewer for any pur- therewith, or uncover the public connection branches thereof, unless and except b y y the consent and under the supervision of the Sewer Inspector, or his duly authorized ai.siste..nt,.whose duty it shall be to full com- pliance With this ordinance in relation to connections, and a failure of duty in this respect shall subject such ;Sewer Inspector , or his assistant to all the penalties in this ordinance. Section 20 It shall be unlawful to make, or cause to be made any such connections, except as above provided, and by a compete2.t plumber, duly li- censed by the City of Paducah to do such work' such licensed plumber not to be the agent of the Sewerage Inspector, or to make connections in any other matter than provided for in this ordinance, aril under no circumstances shall t any plumber or employee of said licensed plumber act as agent of the City of Paducah, or it: sewerage inspector in the performance of the duties prescribed in this ordinanee- Sub• Section a• Every pipe connectigg with the sewer, whether of cast iron or earthenware, sha-1 be sound and impervious in all its parts., and jointed in the best manner= Sub. Section B. - Caskets shall be used in all cases: no other metal than cast iron will be allowed, and joints in iron pipe must be well caulked -with lead. I Sub- Section C. Sub - Section "E":- Every connection of a sink basin or other receptacle connected with the sanitary sewers, 2except water closets2, shall be provided. with a strainer to prevent anything from entering the pipes of the sewer system that would clog or stop same. Section 5: It shall be unlawful to use or cause to be used any house drains for any other purpose or purposes than those specified in .this ordinance. Sub-Section 24- A11 joints of iron and lead pipe shall be made by a brass or Ramond ferule of same size as lead pipe set in the hub of the branch of the iron pipe and caulked wick lead, the lead pipe to be attached to the ferule by a wiped solder joint. Sub-Section 57- The-a7 shall be no trap or verticle soil or waste pipe lines. AlL pipe 1_ines must be supported at their base on brick piers, or by heavy iron hangers from the floor beams, horizontal soil waste and vent pipes are prohibited, where rows of fixtures are placed in line. Sub-Section 58- The term, soil pipe, is app:s_ied to any vertical line of pipe extending throug t the roof, and receiving the disonarpe of one ore more water closets with or without fixtures, The term, waste pipe, is applied to any pipe ex- tending through the roof, and receiving the discharge from any fixture except water closets. The term, vent pipe, is applied to any special pipe extending through the roof., provided to ventilate the whole system of piping and to prevent trap synphonage and back pressure, and not intended to receive sewerage of any kind. Sub-Section 59- Mater closets shall not be supplied with water from special tank or cistern, which hold less than 9 gallons of water when up 'to the level of the overflow pipe for each closet supplied. The flushing pipe of said tank shall not be of less size than 1-1/2 inches inside diameter.
