An ordinance Regulating Junk Dealers and Seaend-Nand Dealers
1n the City of Padusah.
Whereas, much complaint IN continually being made about stolen
property having been disposed of to the Junk dealers and second -hand dealers
in the City of Paducah, and whereas, it in sometimes difficult for the pollee
force to find stolen property which *as been sold to such dealers, and diffi-
cult to apprehend the Offender of the law without the frlondly aid and the
asslstanee of such dealerst and Whereas, It is eptionary, as the Law new
exists, with such junk dealers and second-hand dealers, a■ to whether or not
they render such friendly aid and assistance to said,pfflsers, therefore,
Be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Paducaht
See I -
That any second-hand dealer, junk dealer, or ether person who purchase
-es, sella, exchanges, or receives eeoond-handfurniturs, or second-hand art1N
lea of any kind, shall keep in a sonspleueus place in orit
upon his shop, stern
or place of business, a sign having his name or occupation inscribed thereon,
and shall keep in his place of business a separate book open to Inspection
by any member of the polio$ faros, in which shall be written in a plain logibb
-le handwriting, and in the English language, at the time of every purchase or
exchange of any of the articles purchased, and the description thereof, and
the price paid therefor,-- the name, description, and residence of the person
from whom perohased and received, and the day and hour when such purchase or
exchange was made. Each entry shall be numbered consecutively, commencing
with number one, and any and all of such articles no purchased, or exchanged,
shall be retained by the purchasers for at least fifteen day* before disposing
of the same, and kept in an accessible place at his place of business, where
such articles were purchased or received, and a tag shall be attached to
such article* In some visable and convenient place, with the number written
thereon corresponding to the entry number on the beck.

shall directly or indirectly purchase or receive by way of barter, or exohanp
or otherwise, any articles of any minor, knowing or having reason to believe
him to be such, nor from any person whatever between the hours of 9 •'cloak P.
