*AX ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 22, OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, TITLED WHARF AND WHARF MASTER, AND FREEING TOWBOATS
FROM WHARFAGE FREE.'ti
WHEREASt1 Towboats operating in the Tennessee and Ohio Rivers do not
use the public *6rt, or landing, for the purpose of 'transferring freight
or passengers, ¢nd WHEREASs- such boats stopping in the City is only for
the purpose of employing officers and crew, and to purchase material and
supplies for long tripe, of our merchants, and to have repairs made by
our mechanics, and WHEREASs- this patronage has now grown to enormous
proportions, and of so great interest to the City that wharfage fees
should not be exacted of such boats, - therefore, Be It ordained ny the
` Common Council of the City of Paducah, -

Sec.l- That ordinance No.22 of the revised ordinances of the City
of Paducah,- *titled Wharf and Wharf Master" bet -the same Is hereby
amended by striking out of section 2,- thereof the words, -"or towboats" -
where same may appear therein.-
800.2- That all tow -boats which are strictly conducting the business
or occupation of tow -boats, exclusively, and winch do not use the public
wharf for storing freight or other thing, and make landings only for the
Purpose of making repairs, getting material and supplies, hiring or
paymng off crew, shall be exempt from any liability of wharfage fees, and
priveleged to land where convenient at any point in front of the City.
Seo.3- That all ordinances and parte of ordinances in conflict with
,the provisions of this ordinance are, to the extent of oonflicting,
hereby repealed and this ordinance shall take effect from and after Its
passage and approval.-
