HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 26, Page 240, October 1, 1968240 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah October 1, 1968 At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on October 1, 1968, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Harvey being absent. Mayor Cherry offered motion that the executed copies of the Notice of Called Meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M. on October 1, 1968, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Deed from I Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Broadway Methodist Ch deed dated September 11, 1968 from Broadway Methodist Church to the City of Paducah, North 8th conveying a ten foot strip of ground along the east line of North 8th Street between Broadway and Jefferson Street for sidewalk purposes. be accepted, and that after recording with the McCracken County Court Clerk, same be received and filed. Promote V J.L.Nanney tD Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that Truck Driven upon the recommendation of the City Manager the following personnel changes be made: Resignationi. `/ Odus R Smitk 1. James L. Nanney, laborer in the Refuse Department, be promoted to Jane Watts truck driver in the Refuse Department, at a salary of $2.13 per hour, retroactive to September 16, 1968. 2. The resignation of Odus R. Smith, maintenance helper in the Maintenance Department, be accepted, effective September 23, 1968. 3. The resignation of Jane Watts as Clerk -typist in the Assessor's office, be accepted, effective Septeipber 12, 1968. (increase number truck drivers in Refuse) Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner McNutt, that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to Walker Boat Yard, Inc., and the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a period of one year from October 15, 1968, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner McNutt, that the reports of the Paducah Water Works for the month of September, 1968, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the executed copy of the Lease by Jesse Sparks and wife, Elizabeth Sparks, and James A. House and wife, Mabel House, to the City of naducah, Kentucky, leasing property known as 2016 Cairo Road to be used and occupied as an office for the Oaklawn Concentrated Code Enforcement Program, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). y/ Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Lambert, that a Reso- ve- lution entitled "A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH REGARDING THE USE OF FUNDS FOR STREET IMPROVEMENT TO BE AVAILABI FROM THE SALE OF $1,000,000 OF VOTED PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT BONDS", be adopted. Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-B OF THE 'APPOINTIVE EMPLOYEES' CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE' WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON DECEMBER 2, 1947, AND AMENDED ON JULY 9, 1968", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). On motion the meeting adjourned.
