HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Book 26, Page 139, January 9, 1968139 Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah JenuarY 9, _ 1968 At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on January 9, 1968, Mayor Cherry presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4), Commissioner Fellers being absent (1) Mayor Cherry offered motion, seconded by Commissioner McNutt, that the reading of the Minutes for December 12 and 27, 1967 and January 2, 1968 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Liability Ins. Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner McNutt, that the Leslie A. Feast ` j Certificate of Insurance issued by National Surety Corporation to the City of Paducah, covering work done by Leslie A. Feast et al, for a period of one year from January 1, 1968, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Check & Statement Commissioner Lambert o3fered motion, seconded by Commissioner McNutt, that the Chamber of commerce ' International Shoe. i/letter of Greater Paducah Chamber of Commerce, Inc., dated January 3, 1968, to Mr. B. Cowles Mallory, City Manager, together with the statement of accounting of financial I transactions between Greater Paducah Chamber of Commerce and International Shoe Company;, I be received and filed, and that the check of Greater Paducah Chamber of Commerce, Inc. i I in the amount of$899.55 representing final settlement to the City in said transactions i be given to the Senior Treasurer for deposit. Sell grave in V Commissioner Lambert offered motion, seconded by Commissioner McNutt, that the Rushing Addition i Mateld Shumpert j Board of Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Mateld Shumpert of the southeast corner of Lot No. 369 in Block No. 6 of the Rushing Addition to Oak. Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Commissioner McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the Loren R. Jones ± Certificate of Insurance issued by The Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to Loren R. Jones and the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a period of one year from t I January 1, 1968, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Commissioner McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that the claim of George W. Ligon, 1309 Ramona Drive, Paducah, Kentucky, in the amount of $564.32 resulting from a city refuse truck driven by John Robertson colliding with his vehicle at 6th and Broadway on December 6, 1967, be allowed, and that the Senior Treasurer pay said claim after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Lambert, McNutt, Puryear and Mayor Cherry (4). Harper, d/b/a Harper & Gray and the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a period of one year from January 1, 1968, be received, approved and filed. Morton as a member of the Board of Park Commissioners, effective January 1, 1968, be received, accepted and filed. Commissioner Puryear offered motion, seconded by Commissioner McNutt, that the i reports of the Paducah Water Works be received and filed. Legeay, David A. Sawyer and Rev. H. J. Simpson as members of the [n� Board of Trustees of Carnegie Public Library, be received, accepted and filed. J. appoint ✓� George Crounse Simpson and David Sawyer having resigned as members of the Board of Trustees of CarnegiE Jack Rottgering - Lionel Minnen ,� i Public Library, I hereby appoint George Crounse, Jack Rottt3ering and Lionel Minnen to fill the unexpired terms, so that the Board will be composed of the following members: George Crounse whose term expires June 14, 1968 Jack Rottgering whose term expires June 14, 1968 Lionel Minnen whose term expires June 14, 1970 Mary Yeiser whose term expires June 14, 1970 Wilds W. Olive whose term expires June 14, 1971 Robert C. Cherry Mayor Cherry offered the following motion which was seconded by Commissioner Waterworks Board V McNutt: Pursuant to Section 96.320 of Kentucky Revised Statutes. I, Robert C. Cherry, Mayor of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, do hereby appoint myself as such Mayor to be i an exofficio member of the Commissioners of Water Works of said City, for a term coinciding with my term of office as Mayor. Oak Grove Cemetery / Commissioner McNutt offered motion, seconded by Commissioner Puryear, that an Amend Sections 6 & 9 .P burial & lot fees and ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 6 AND 9 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED charges 'AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND GOVERNING BURIALS, DISINTERMENT AND REINTERDIENT CHARGES INS I OAK GROVE CEMETERY AND ADDITIONS THERETO', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL I OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH ON OCTOBER 23, 1909, AND AMENDED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS i II ON NOVEMBER 13, 1962", be adopted.
