At a Regular Meetinr of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on December 10, 1963, I•Iayor Pro Tem
Gholson presided in the absence of Mayor Cherry, and upon call of the Roll the following
answered to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor I-ro Tem
Cholson (4), Mayor Cherry being absent (1).
Mayor Pro Tem Gholson offered motion that the reading, of the Minutes for November
26 and December 3, 1963 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the
City Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).
Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: It appearing that Clint
Cunningham, a Captain in the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, who is scheduled
for retirement from said department on December 31, 1963, under the terms and provisions
of an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of said City on Varch 13, 1962;
has requested by letter that his employment as such be continued, and that such con-
tinuation has been recommended by a letter of Ed Turner, Chief of the Fire Department,
I move that this Board determine that a continuation of said employment will be for the
best interest of the City, and that such employment be continued until mid -night on
June 30, 1964, unless terminated prior to such time by operation of law. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem
Gholson (4).
Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion: It appears from a letter
dated December 6, 1963, filed by the Commissioners of Water Works that they recommend
the installation of 416 feet of 8 inch water main on 13th Street from Kentucky to
Broadway in order to relieve a shortage of water on Broadway in that area, and to
provide better fire protection on that part of Broadway.
I therefore move, that the letter of the Commissioners of :Yater ':forks be received
and filed and that the Paducah Stater Works, through its Board of Commissioners, be
authorized to lay this main as requested.
I further move that the adoption of this resolution be considered as an agreement
on the part of the City of Paducah to pay the main rental as proposed in the franchise,
on the war.er main referred to in the letter of the Commissioners of Water Works, said
rentals to to -in w'nen said main has been placed into use. Adopted on call of the
