At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah; Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on November 10, 1959, Mayor Jacobs
presided and Upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4), Commissioner Fendley being absent (1)
Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for October 27, 1959
be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be approved
as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook
and Mayor Jacobs (4).
Settle claim of Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the claim of Mrs. Cozette Tichenor
Mrs. Colette
Tichenor against the City in the sum of x70.00 for damages to her motor vehicle by an alleged
street defect in the vicinity of 401 Brown Street on October 12, 1959 be allowed and
that the Treasurer pay her such amount after securing a full and complete release.

Jacobs (4).
Election Report Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the report of the General Election held
(General) 1959
, on November 3, 1959, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,

Police report;Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the report of the police department for
October 1959

Bond Littleton Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive, approv

s / Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the letter from Ed Turner, Fire Chief,

addressed to the City Manager dated November 2, 1959, advising that James Donald Rucks
has completed fifteen (15) days of probationary period in the fire department and
recommending that his appointment be made permanent as of November 1, 1959, be received
and filed, and I further move that the said James Donald Rucks be, and he is now, made
a permanent employee of the fire department. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that exonerations prepared and delivered by the
City Treasurer, being No. 238 through No. 299 inclusive, be received and filed, and that
the amounts of same totaling .y2,793.04 be exonerated on the tax bill~ shown and designate
by said exonerations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4).
/ Commissioner Hook offered motion that the executed copy of the contract between the
City and Taylor -Wilson Chevrolet -Cadillac, Inc. for the sale to the City of one (1) 1960
Chevrolet one-half ton pick-up truck, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll

Settle Suit / Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: Upon recommendation of
Chas Hatfield
H. Warren Middleton, Corporation Counsel, and Earle T. Shoup, Assistant Corporation
counsel, I move that the McCracken Circuit Court Civil Action #3203 of Charles B.
Hatfield and wife, Katherine W. Hatfield, against the City of Paducah, seeking samages

in the amount of $1$,000.00 be settled and compromised for the sum of $6,500.00; and
further move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to
issue a check of the City of Paducah for said amount to the said Charles B. Hatfield
and wife, Katherine W. Hatfield, and Waller, Threlkeld, Whitlow and Byrd, Attorneys,
after securing a full and complete release approved by said Corporation Counsel and
Assistant Corporation Counsel. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners

that the McCracken Circuit Court Civil Action x#3401 of Mary Hust against the City of
Paducah, seeking damages in the amount of $15,000.00 be settled and compromised for the
sum of $3,000.00; and further move that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authori
and directed to issue a check of the City for said amount to the said Mary Hust and Reed
& Hines, attorneys, after securing a full and complete release approved by said Corpor-
ation Counsel and Assistant Corporation counsel. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (4).
