Pmceedings of. Board of Commissioners City of Paducah August 25 1959
At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on August 25, 1959, Mayor
Jacobs presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names:

Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for August 11,
1959 be waived and that the kinutes of said -meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be
approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Jacobs (4)/

furnishing water to one residence only to be constructed upon property owned by petiti
er fronting 100 feet on the south side of Homewood Avenue in McCracken County, outside
the corporate limits of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed and that the request
petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition

/ Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that Elmer Jackson be employed as a
temporary laborer in the Street Division of the Public dorks Department at the rate of,
61.171 per hour, effective September 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Jacobs'(4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion bhat Boyce Clayton be temporarily
employed as Assistant Treasurer in the Finance Department of the City of Paducah at a
salary of 'x330.00 per month, effective August 12, 1959. At the expiration of six
months of employment as such his salary shall be >040.00 per month, upon recommendatio
of the City Manager. Such appointment not being made under civil service. Adopted on
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Jacobs (4)
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that B. J. Tinsley be temporarily
employed as City Auditor in the Finance Department of the City of Paducah at a salary
of u300.00 per month, effective August 17, 1959. At the expiration of six months of
employment as such his salary shall be 4310.00 per month and at the expiration of
eighteen months his salary shall be ;1320.00 per month upon recommendation of the City
Manager. Such appointment not being made under civil service. Adopted oncall of
the roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Jacobs (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered the follomi.ng motion: I move that the
letter dated August 25, 1959, from Cecil Buckingham, a member of the police department
requesting a leave of absence without pay or other benefits for a period of five (5)
days beginning August 31, 1959, be received and filed, and further move that such
request be, and the same is hereby, granted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson and Mayor Jacobs (4).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the executed copy of the con-
tract between. the City of Paducah and Ashland Refining Company, fpr the furnishing of
Regular and Ethyl gasoline for the period from July 1, 1959 to December 31, 1959, be

requesting that the employment of George E. Clark as temporary laborer in the Street

Settle claim of Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the claim of the Colonel's Lounge, 113

on July 16, 1959, be allowed, and that the Treasurer be, and he is hereby, directed to
pay, such.claim after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the

Trans $600.00 Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby,
to Planning &
Zoning directed to transfer from the General Fund of the City to Account No. 8000 for the use
and benefit of the Planning and Zoning Commission, the sum of ;j600.00. Adopted on

Refuse & Sevier Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the reports of the Paducah :later Idorks

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive,
