At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on July 17, 1959, Mayor Jacobs preside
and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners Fairhurst
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for June 23 and July
13, 1959 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting as prepared by the City Clerk be
approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: Victor L. Taber and Caskey
Pontiac Company, Inc., desire an agreement with Paducah plater Works that approximately
1,$19 feet of 6 inch main along Vasseur Avenue, Hobson Avenue, and an un -named street
and the Beltline be laid for the purpose of serving property owned by them including the
providing of fire protection therefor. Said applicants have agreed to pay to Paducah
Water Works the sum of Four Thousand Two Hundred and no/100 (?4,200.00) Dollars as a
contribution toward the construction of said main and the Board of Commissioners of
Paducah hater 'dorks has determined that it would be to the best interest of the water
distribution system of the dater Works to construct said 6 inch cast iron main in the
manner contemplated by said agreement and said Commissioners of Water !Yorks have further
determined that it would be to the best interest of the water distribution system to con-
struct 1,659 feet of such extension with 8 inch main.
I move that the agreement between Paducah Water Works as party of the first part
and Caskey Pontiac Company, Inc., and Victor L. Taber as parties of the second part,
dated the 9th day of July, 1959, a copy of which is filed herewith be approved.
I further move that the adoption of this resolution and the approval of said
agreement be considered as an agreement on the part of the City of Paducah to pay the
fire hydrant and water main rental, as provided in the franchise, on the pipe line
referred to in the petition and in this motion and in this motion, said rental to begin
when said water main and fire hydrant have been installed and placed in service.

Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the petition of Robert C. Cherry and
wife, Lynn M. Cherry, for permission to make a one inch connection to the existing 2 -incl
privately owned water pipe line located on Theobald Lane for the purpose of furnishing
water to property and buildings used in connection with their greenhouse and florist
business located and fronting 965.2 feet on the north side of Theobald Lane in McCracken
County, Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be
received and filed and that the request petitioned for therein be granted subject to the
terms and conditions in said petition. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commission-
ers Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the petition pf Edmund Henry Poat, Sr.,
and his wife, Maggie E. Post, for permission and authority to make one 3/4 -inch connects,
to the existing 6 -inch cast iron water main owned by the Paducah dater 'forks so as to
furnish water to one residence to be constructed upon a lot fronting 75 feet on the nortl

side of kjinkleville Road in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the corpora -

petition be granted in accordance with the terms and conditions in said petitio,

now on savings account in the Paducah Bank, and using it with an additional ;,60,000.00

Bonds maturing November 15, 1961, bearing approximately 41% interest, be received and
filed; and I further move that he be, and he is hereby, directed and authorized to make

be accepted, and that the Corporation Counsel be, and he is hereby, authorized and
directed to prepare an ordinance accepting such bid and authorizing the sale thereof
and any other instruments necessary for such sale. Adopted on call of the Roll,

Hook voted "no".
