At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chambe
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.N. on November 13, 1962, Mayor Cherry
presided and upon call of the Roll the Following answered to their names: Commissioners
• Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby,. Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for October 23, 27
and November 5, 1962 be waived and that the Minutes of said meeting prepared by the City
Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley,
j; Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).

James 0. Farrow Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: It appearing from the report

fireman of Ed Turner, Fire Chief, that James 0. Farrow, an Applicant -Candidate in the Fire Depart
ment of the City of Paducah, has satisfactorily completed the 60 day training period as

such Applicant -Candidate as provided by ordinance, I now therefore move that the said
James 0. Farrow be, and he is hereby, appointed a fireman in the Fire Department, at a
salary of $280.00 per month, effective November 14 at 6:40 A.M. Adopted oncall of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Bond - Crolle�' Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Bond of Lou E. Crolley d/b/a
Construction
Company Crolley Construction Company in the amount of $5,000.00, dated November 71 1962, be
received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Keith Yancy Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Keith Yancy be, and he is hereby,
appointed
First Assistant appointed as First Assistant Chief of the Police Department of the City of Paducah,
Chief of Polide
Kentucky, at a salary of $400.00 per month, effective November 1, 1962. Such appoint-
ment having been previously made on August 21, 1962 to be effective upon his return from
the Federal Bureau of Investigation School. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Leave of Abse ce,. Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: I move that the request of
Louise Bell
iLouise Dell, Machine Operator in the Finance Department of the City, requesting a leave
of absence as such for a period of six (6) months, effective December 1, 1962, be
received and filed; and I further move that such request be granted. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Deed from Cly a Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the deed dated October 13, 1962, from

in width for the widening of Caldwell Street west of 5th Street, be received, accepted
and recorded in the office of the vlerk of the McCracken County Court. Adopted on call

Commissioner Karnes offered motion that exonerations prepared and delivered by th
City Treasurer, being "477", through "514", inclusive, be received and filed, and that
the amounts of same totaling $712.04 be exonerated on the tax bills shown and designate
by said exonerations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley,
Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by
Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company to N. C. Slay d/b/a Slay Plumbing & Heating
Company, for a period of one year from October 14, 1962, also bond of the said Slay
Plumbing & Heating Company in the amount of $1,000.00 dated October 14, 1962, be
received, approved and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fendley, Gholson. Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by The
Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York to LaVerne. Littleton, d/b/a Littleton
Plumbing & Heating Repair Service and The City of Paducah, Kentucky, for a period
of one (1) year from November 1, 1962, be received, approved and filed. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Payor
Cherry (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that a Resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH
WITH ITS REQUIREMENTS OF REGULAR AND ETHYL GASOLINE, 140TOR OIL, DIESEL FUEL, CHASSIS
LUBRICANT, GEAR LUBE OIL, HYDRAULIC OIL, KEROSENE AND ANTI -FREEZE TO BE USED BY THE
CITY OF PADUCAH FROM JANUARY 1, 1963 TO JUNE 30, 1963", be adopted. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor
Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING SECTIONS 6 AND 9 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED: 'AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND
GOVERNING BURIALS, DISINTERP•ENT AND REINTERMENT CHARGES IN OAK GROVE CEMETERY AND
ADDITIONS THERETO', WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH
ON OCTLBER 23, 1909, AND AMENDED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON 14ARCH 4, 1952",

Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
ACCEPTING THE BID OF KING-WOODALL MOTORS., INC. FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF ONE (1)
NEW 1963 FORD PICK-UP TRUCK FOR USE BY THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY, AND
PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be
adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Gholson,

Commissioner Karnes offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "API ORDINANCE
PROPOSING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY OF WILLIAM AMOS USHER AND WIFE, POLLY JANE
USHER, LYING ADJACENT TO THE WEST CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF THE TERRITORY TO BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY, AND
DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH ANNEXATION", be adopted. Adopted
