Proceedings of Board of Commissioners City of Paducah June 9. 1959
j At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on June 9, 1959, Mayor Jacobs
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioner
Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5)
Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for May 26 and
June 8, 1959 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings as prepared by the City
Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Street Light r Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that the petition signed by Lillian

request the Kentucky Utilities Company to install said light. Adopted on call of the$

File bids on / Commissioner Fairhurst offered the following motion: I move that the following
Hospital 1
bids for the purchase of Riverside Hospital be received and filed:
1. Memphis Conference of the Methodist Church in the sum of $301,000.00 cash
and 20% discount for chairty hospital services to the City for a period of ten (10) ye S.
2. The Roman Catholic Diocses of Owensboro in the sum of $503,251.00 cash
and 41% discount for charity hospital services to the City for a period of twenty (20)
years. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson,
Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).

Commissioner Fendley offered motion that Patricia Ann Jones be temporarily
employed as Secretary to the Mayor and City Manager effective June 15, 1959, at a
starting salary of $230.00 per month; such position not to be under civil service.
After six months of regular employment and upon recommendation of the City
Manager, her salary shall be $240.00 per month, and after eighteen months of
regular employment, upon recommendation of the City Manager, her salary shall be
$250.00 per month. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
