At a Called Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 2:30 P.M. on June 8, 1959, Mayor Jacobs
presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names: Commissioners
Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Notices Mayor Jacobs offered motion that the executed copies of the Notice of Calle
Meeting to be held at 2:30 P.M. on June 8, 1959, be received and filed. Adopted on cal
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Employ Bennie/ Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that Bennie Smith be employed as a

Commissioner Fairhurst offered motion that Sike Timmons be employed as a
temporary laborer in the Public Works Department of the City of Paducah at u1.17J per
hour, retroactively effective as of June 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the report of the police departmenI
for the month of May, 1959, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas;

Commissioner Fendley offered motion that the resolutions from the Junior
Women's Club of Paducah; Kiwanis Club of South Paducah and the League of Women Voters
of Paducah, requesting the employment of a professionally trained recreational director
be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that a letter dated May 22, 1959 from
Mrs. Henry Bichon of 231 Fountain Avenue, regarding traffic conditions at Monroe and
Fountain Avenue be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Richard L. Johnson be employed as
a temporary laborer in the Public Works Department of the City of Paducah at 31.17je per
hour, retroactively effective as of June 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Gommissioner Gholson offered motion that Roscoe Free be employed as a
temporary laborer in the Public Works Department of the City of Paducah at $1.171 per
hour, retroactively effective as of June 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Ben Griffith be employed as a
temporaryvtorkerrin the Public Works Department of the City of Paducah at 4.30 per
hour, retroactively effective as of June 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,

Appoint Andrew E Mayor Jacobs offered the following motion: I move that a certified copy of a

KU Resolution adopted on June 8, 1959 by the Electric Plant Board of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, requesting the Mayor of such city to appoint Andrew E. Bodner of Burns &
McDonnell Engineering Company of Kansas City, Missouri, as an appraiser on behalf of
the City to make a survey of and appraise the value of the electric system owned in
Paducah, Kentucky by Kentucky Utilities Company, be received and filed.
Now, therefore, I, George G. Jacobs, Mayor of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, do
hereby appoint Andrew E. Bodner of Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company of Kansas City,
Missouri, as an appraiser on behalf of the City to make a survey of and appraise the
value of the Electric system owned in Paducah, Kentucky by Kentucky Utilities Company,
and such appraiser will act on behalf of the city under detailed instructions of the
Electric Plant Board of the City of Paducah, Kentucky. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).

AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE", be adopted/

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Joe H. Bray be appointed and employed
as Tire Repairman in the refuse division of the Public Works Department at $$'1.37 per
hour, effective July 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).
Commissioner Hook offered motion that Robert L. Brown be appointed and employed
as Mechanic Helper in the refuse division of the Public Works Department at $1.49 per
hour, effective July 1, 1959. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Jacobs (5).

Commissioner Hook offered motion that Ray Joseph be, and he is hereby appointed
and employed as Assistant Director of Public Works, a non -civil service position
heretofore created by ordinance; said appointment to be effective immediately.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fairhurst, Fendley, Gholson, Hook
and Mayor Jacobs (5).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
