Proceedings of Board Of Commissioners City of Paducah idar� rh 97 1862
At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
of the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on March 27, 1962, Mayor Pro Tem Ghols
presided in the absence of Mayor Cherry and upon call of the Roll the following answered
to their names: Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Cholson (4).
Mayor Cherry being absent (1).
Mayor Pro Tem Gholson offered motion that.the reading of the Minutes for March
and 21, 1962 be waived and that the Minutes of said Meeting prepared by the City Clerk
be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley,
Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).

Paducah Water Works located on Oaks Road, for the purpose of furnishing water to one
residence only upon a lot fronting 125 feet on the West side of Oaks Road in McCracken
County, Kentucky, and outside the corporate limits of the yity of Paducah, Kentucky, be
received and filed, and that the request in said petition be granted in accordance with
the terms and conditions in said petition. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commiss-
ioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).
Commissioner Karnes offered motion that the petition of Vaughn 0. Wells and his
wife, Rose B. )dells, for permission to make one 3/4 inch connection to the privately
owned water pipe line located on Minnich Avenue for the purpose of furnishing water to one
residence only to be built upon property now owned by petitioners and fronting 179.5 feet
on the West side of Minnich Avenue in McCracken County, Kentucky, and outside the corpora
limits of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, be received and filed, and that the request
petitioned for therein be granted subject to the terms and conditions in said petition.

Commissioner Fendley offered the following motion: It appearing that Tilghman
Tade, a member of the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and the Chief
of Detectives therein, who is scheduled for retirement from said department on March 31,
1962 under the terms and provisions of an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners
of said city on P -.arch 13, 1962, has requested that his employment as such be continued
past said date of March 31, 1962, I move that this Board declare that a continuation of
such employment will be for the best interest of the City and that such employment be
continued until midnight on the 30th day of September, 1962, unless terminated prior to
such time by operation of law. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Fro Tem Gholson (4).
Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion; I move that the Board of
Commissioners approve the sale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Margaret Jones of a parcel
of ground, being 8 feet by 20 feet on the east side of Lot No. 4 in Block No. 1 of the
Mausoleum Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery for the sum of $120.00.
I further move that the City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance
to said cemetery lot. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley,
Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).

Commissioner Hornsby offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Water Worka
be received and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City Treasurer
to be deposited in the proper accounts:
Refuse collections for February, 1962 $9,684.05
Sewer Service Charges for February, 1962 9,718.50
Bad Refuse accounts collected during February 19.60

Commissioner Hornsby offered the following motion: It appearing that L. B.
Mason, a member of the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and an Assistant
Chief therein, who is scheduled for retirement from said department on March 31, 1962,
under the terms and provisions of an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of
said city on March 13, 1962, has requested that his employment as such be continued past
said date of March 31, 1962, I move that this Board declare that a continuation of such
employment will be for the best interest of the City and that such employment be con-
tinued until midnight on the 30th day of September, 1962, unless terminated prior to
such time by operation of law. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).
Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion: It appearing that G. L. Bart
a member of the Fire Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and a Captain therein,
who is scheduled for retirement from said department on March 31, 1962 under the terms
and provisions of an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of said city on Marc
13, 1962, has requested that,this employment as such be continued until September 1, 1962,
I move that this Board declare that a continuation of such employment will be for the
best interest of the City and that such employment be continued until midnight on the
31st day of August, 1962, unless terminated prior to such time by operation of lair.
Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro

Commissioner Karnes offered the following motion: It appearing that Charles F.
Champion, a member of the Police Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and a
Captain therein, who is scheduled for retirement from said department on March 31, 1962
under the terms and provisions of an ordinance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of
said city on I•larch 13, 1962, has requested that his employment as such be continued past
said date of ,larch 31, 1962, I move that this Board declare that a continuation of such
employment will be for the best interest of the City and that such employment be con-
tinued until midnight or. the 30th day of September, 1962, unless terminated prior to
such time by operation of law. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Tiayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).

Stone Company, Inc. for furnishing the City its requirement of limestone for the year
1962, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley,
Hornsby, Karnes and Iayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).

Mayor Pro Tem Gholson offered motion that the bid submitted by Emulsified
Asphalt Company for furnishing the City its requirement of emulsified asphalt for the
year 1962, be received and filed. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and I4ayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).

Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
ACCEPTING THE BID OF EMULSIFIED ASPHALT COMPANY FOR THE SALE TO THE CITU OF TYPE RS, I -IS,
SS AND AE -200 EMULSIFIED ASPHALT REQUIRED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH DURING THE YEAR 1962, ANI
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAII
MATERIALS, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERNS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SAID PURCHASES SHALL BE MAI
be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public inspection in the
completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted on call of the
Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Fendley, Hornsby, Karnes and Mayor Pro Tem Gholson (4).

THE PURCHASE OF SATIE; AND PRESCRIBING THE TERNS AND CONDITIONS UNDER I'IHICH SAID PURCHASE
SHALL BE MADE", be introduced and remain on file for at least one (1) week for public in-
spection in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final passage. Adopted
