Proceeding: of Bogrd of Commissioners city of Paducah November 14. 1961
At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission Chamber of,
the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on November 14, 1961, Mayor Cherry presided
and upon call of,the Roll the folloering answered to their names: Commissioners Davis,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Mayor Cherry offered motion that the reading of the Minutes for October 24th and
November 3rd, 1961 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City
Clerk be approved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis,
Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Liability Ins Commissioner Davis offered motion that the Certificate of Insurance issued by State
Ferrenfs
Market V Automobile Insurance Company to E. S. Ferren & Louise Ferren d/b/a Ferrents Market, for a
period of one year from August 28, 1961, be received, approved and filed. Adopted on call
of the roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Tax Exoneratiq� v Commissioner Davis offered motion that exonerations prepared and delivered by the

City Treasurer, being #236 through #301, inclusive, be received and filed „ and that the

amounts of same totaling :;)6,376,55 be exonerated on the tax bills shown and designated
by said exonerations. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley,
Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).

M. Jones and wife, Nell W. Jones, to the Mayor and Board of Commissioners, requesting

of the Pines Road and adjacent to the present limits be annexed to the City, be received

Lot No. 22 in /Block No. 8 of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the
City Clerk be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery graves. Adopted
on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5
n Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Report of the Election Commissioners
covering the General Election held on November 7, 1961, be received and filed. Adopted or
call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners approve the
ssale by the City of Paducah to Mrs. Ophelis Peoples of the north west corner of Lot No.
23 in Block No. $ of the Rushing Addition to Oak Grove Cemetery, and that the City Clerk
be authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to said cemetery grave. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Hook offered the following motion: I move that the request of the
Paducah Water Works for authority to install approximately 1$00 feet of 8 inch water main
along South Beltline Highway, from the existing main on the east side of Island Creek
Bridge to the intersection of Olive Street and Beltline Highway; thence along Olive Street
to the intersection of Olive and Murray Street, and to install an additional fire hydrant
on the existing main located on Beltline Highway between Vasseur Avenue and Island Creek
Bridge for the purpose stated in said request be granted, and I further move that the
adoption of this resolution and the granting of the request be considered as an agreement

report
on the part of the City of Paducah to pay the fire hydrant and main rental, as provided
in the franchise, on the water main and fire hydrant referred to in said request and
in this motion. Said rental to begin when said main has been installed and water
provided for on the streets above referred to. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Hook offered motion that the report of the semiannual inspection of
the Paducah Flood Protection Project dated November 9, 1961, be received and filed.

HHFA of Housing and Home Finance Agency, dated November 9, 1961, to Mayor Cherry stating
that the Urban Renewal Commissioner and has staff are reviewing the pending loan and
i grant application for the urban renewal project, be received and filed. Adopted on c

Mayor Cherry offered the following motion: I move that R. E. Vennum, Milton L.
DeZern and Nix Albritten be appointed to serve as members of the Board of Equalization
of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, for the year 1961; that the members of said board,
after being first duly sworn to faithfully discharge the duties of their office, be
directed to meet at the City Hall in Paducah, Kentucky on the 4th day of December, 1961
to elect from themselves a chairman and a clerk; to notify the City Auditor that they
are ready to receive the assessment books and to them proceed with the equalization
of assessments of all real and personal property within the city subject to taxation
in accordance with the provisions of law; and the members of said board are to receive
for their services the amount of compensation fixed by ordinance. Adopted on call
of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).
Commissioner Fendley offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
APPROVING THE FINAL REPORT OF THE PADUCAH-McCRACKEN COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION RESPECT-
ING THE SUBDIVISION OF PROPERTY OF ZETTIE RIDGEWAY ET AL, LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE
OF LEVIN AVENUE SOUTH OF PARK AVENUE, APPROVING THE PLAT OF SAID SUBDIVISION, AND
SUBDIVIDING SAID PROPERTY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor Cherry (5).

Commissioner Hook offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
PROPOSING ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY OF LOREN M. JONES AND 'WIFE, BELL W. JONES,
LYING ADJACENT TO THE WEST CORPORATE LIhIITS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
DEFINING ACCURATELY THE BOUNDARY OF THE TERRITORY TO BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY, AND
DECLARING THE DESIRABILITY AND NECESSITY OF SUCH ANNEXATION", be adopted. Adopted
on call of the roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Fendley, Gholson, Hook and Mayor
Cherry (5).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
