At a Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners held in the Commission
Chamber of the city Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at 7:30 P.M. on August 22, 1961, Mayor
Protem Hook presided and upon call of the Roll the following answered to their names:
Commissioners Davis, Gholson and Mayor Protem Hook (3), Commissioner Fendley and
Mayor Cherry being absent (2).
Mayor Protem Hook offered -motion that the reading of the Minutes for August $
and 15, 1961 be waived and that the Minutes of said meetings prepared by the City Clerk
be pppnoved as written. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis,
Gholson and Mayor Protein Hook (3).
Commissioner Davis offered motion that the claim of Joe Dyson (620 Willie Street)
in the sum of $21.50, for damages to his motor vehicle, by a street department vehicle,
on July 25, 1961, near 26th and Jackson Street.be allowed; and that the Treasurer pay
said claim after securing a full and complete release. Adopted on call of the Roll,
Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson and Mayor Protem Hook (3).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the reports of the Paducah Dater Works
be received and filed, and that the following checks be turned over to the City Treasure
to be deposited in the proper accounts:
Refuse collections for July, 1961 09,650.00
Sewer Service Charges for July, 1961 9,635.00
Bad Refuse accounts collected during July 10.$0

Commissioner Gholson offered motion that Henry Johnson be temporarily employed a
an instructor in the Recreation Department of the City, at a salary of •0220.00 per Mont
retroactive to August 7, 1961. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Davis, Gholson and Mayor Protem Hook (3).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that the Board of Commissioners receive and
file copy of a motion passed by the Paducah -McCracken County Planning Commission on
August 16, 1961, recommending the closing of an alley extending from 30th to 31st Stree
between Trimble Street and Clay Street. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissior
ers Davis, Gholson and Mayor Protem Hook (3).
Mayor Protem Hook offered the following motion: I move that Tom Paxton, Fred
Nagel, Dean Matheson, Earle Shoup, Morris McBride and Robert C. Cherry, Mayor, be named
as representatives of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, to meet with Federal Housing
Authority officials in Washington, D.C., and with Senators Cooper and Morton and United
States Representative, Frank S. Stubblefield, on August 29, 1961, to discuss the Forest
Hills Housing Project problem in Paducah, Kentucky, and to present a request that said
Forest Hills Project be made available for use by the Paducah Junior College of Paducah,
Kentucky. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis, Gholson and Mayor
Protem Hook (3).
Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "Ail ORDINANCE
GRANTING AN EASEMENT FOR THE LAYING OF WATER MAINS IN CERTAIN LAND IN KOLB PARK TO THE
CWT•IISSIONERS OF WATER WORKS, FOR THE USE AND BENEFIT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKYL
DESCRIBING THE LAND TO BE INCLUDED IN SAID EASEMENT; AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND
CONDITIONS OF SAID EASF^dENT", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas,
Commissioners Davis, Gholson and Mayor Protem Hook (3).

Commissioner Davis offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
CLOSING AN ALLEY IN BLOCK 'B' OF BELLMONT HEIGHTS ADDITION TO PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND
AUTHORIZING THE CORPORATION COUNSEL TO INSTITUTE ACTION FOR SUCH CLOSING IN McCRACKEN
CIRCUIT COURT", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners Davis,
Gholson and Mayor Protem Hook (3).
Commissioner Gholson offered motion that an ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE
CALLING AN ELECTION AS TO THE QUESTION OF DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME FOR USE IN THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY", be adopted. Adopted on call of the Roll, Yeas, Commissioners
Davis, Gholson and Mayor Protem Hook (3).
On motion the meeting adjourned.
